SUMMARY This thesis is a research of literary inheritance of Zinaida Gippius, who at threshol of 19-20 centuries has been a representative of the new tendency in literature, is called“symbolism”. Gippius has considered herself a symbolist, but somehow, her works has been related with such literary tendency as“decadence”. For a long time the name of Gippius somehow has been forgotten in literature. It seems that it has been wipped out from the literary studies and researches. One of the fact, that Gipppius with her husband and Filosofov has left Russia and all her life struggled against the bolshevism, calling it“red plaque”, her name has been wiped out from the literature. The aim of this study is as follows: - to make the literary analyses pecularities of Gippius prose - to find out different methods of literary skill of writer The subject of the short stories of the writer are of special interest. The main topics of her works are God, Love, Death and Human beings. Everthing, which takes place in this world, is founded on these main basis. The pecularities of her attitude to the world, reflecting the characters of her heroes, showing themselves in the compositional structure of her stories. The big importance belongs to her nature. It is also an underscribed main hero in Gippius 's stories. While analysing the stylistic pecularities of the writer's language, we have come to a conclusion, that the methaphor, allegory and personificiation are the main characteristics of her literary works. Individualism of the heroe's speech is a main sign of symbolism and the constant allegation to the death - is a sign of decadence. 101
