136 SUMMARY The aim of this survey is the evaluation of the traditional statue, role and the autharity of women teachers working in the secondary schools in Samsun and another group of women whe are not working, from the stand point of socialanthropotogy. The survey shows that there are differences between the women who are working and the women who are not working from the stand point of statue, role and authority. With the evaluation of data obtained in accordance with the aim and the subject of the survey these results hawe been found. In Comparison with the women who are not working, working women are in higher positions as for statue, role and authority. Although both groups have some advantages and disadvantages about their positions, working women are freer, more equal and modern than those who are not working. These qualities are also reflected in their marriage life. Women who are not working are offected by the ideas of their families, their husbands and the society they are living in than those who are not working. However, working women live in line with their own ideas. Working women are more independant than those who are not working. By making some developments and changes from the traditional women statue and role the working women shows qualities in accordance with the modern woman statue.
