Özet
Bu çalışma estetik takdirin altında yatan evrimsel ve bilişsel temelleri, bireysel farklılıklara odaklanan ölçek çalışmalarının sonuçlarını bir araya getirerek estetik tercihleri şekillendiren faktörlere dair yeni bir iç görü kazandırmayı amaçlamıştır. Araştırmaya 844 kişi (510 kadın, 334 erkek) katılmıştır. Katılımcılara temsili ve soyut olmak üzere iki kategoriye ayrılan ve farklı estetik takdir olanakları sunan farklı sanat stillerinin dahil edildiği araştırmamızda“Kişisel Bilgi Formu”,“Bireysel Yenilikçilik Ölçeği”ve“Estetik Takdir Ölçeği”kullanılarak demografik değişkenlerin ve katılımcıların bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyinin estetik takdirle ilişkisi incelenmiştir. Tanınabilir unsurları içeren resimler temsili sanat olarak, gerçeklikten kopmuş, tanınabilir figüratif unsurları içermeyen renk ve çizgilerle kompozisyon oluşturan eserler ise soyut sanat olarak sınıflandırıldı. Sonuçlar, katılımcıların temsili sanat puanının soyut sanat puanına göre daha yüksek olduğunu ve kadınların estetik takdir puanlarının erkeklerden anlamlı derecede yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir. Cinsiyet hem estetik takdir hem de bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyi ile ilişkili bulunmuştur. Ayrıca bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyi ile estetik takdir puanları arasında pozitif yönlü anlamlı bir ilişki de tespit edilmiştir. Sonuçlar, estetik tercihlerde resimlerin içeriğinin tanınmasının ve anlaşılmasının önemine dikkat çekmektedir. Bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyi ise iki sanat türü için de bireylerin estetik takdirinin önemli bir öngörücüsüdür. Bu araştırma, bireysel yenilikçilik düzeyinin ve cinsiyetin ayrı ayrı incelenmesinin faydasını desteklemektedir. Kişiliğin ve demografik değişkenlerin estetik takdirle ilişkisini ise bireysel farklılıklar açısından değerlendirerek netleştirmektedir.

This study aimed to provide a new insight into the factors that shape aesthetic preferences by gathering the evolutionary and cognitive foundations underlying aesthetic appreciation and the results of scale studies focusing on individual differences. 844 people (510 women, 334 men) participated in the study. In our research including different art styles which are divided into two categories as representational and abstract and offer different aesthetic appreciation opportunities to the participants, the relationship between demographic variables and participants' individual innovativeness level with aesthetic appreciation was examined by using the“Personal Information Form”,“Individual Innovation Scale”and“Aesthetic Appreciation Scale”. Paintings containing recognizable elements were classified as representational art, while works that were detached from reality and composed with colors and lines that did not contain recognizable figurative elements were classified as abstract art. The results show that the representational art score of the participants is higher than the abstract art score, and the aesthetic appreciation scores of the women are significantly higher than the men. Gender was associated with both aesthetic appreciation and individual innovativeness. In addition, a positive and significant relationship was found between individual innovativeness level and aesthetic appreciation scores. The results highlight the importance of recognizing and understanding the content of the pictures in aesthetic preferences. Individual innovation level is an important predictor of individuals' aesthetic appreciation for both types of art. This research supports the usefulness of examining individual innovativeness level and gender separately. It clarifies the relationship of personality and demographic variables with aesthetic appreciation by evaluating in terms of individual differences.
