Özet
Tarihsel ilerleme düşüncesinin kökeni konusunda literatürde farklı görüşler bulunduğu söylenebilir. Bunlardan temel olanlarından biri, ilerleme düşüncesinin tarih teolojilerinde doğduğunu, tarih felsefelerinin ise bu düşünceyi sekülerleştirerek devam ettirdiğini savunmaktadır. Literatürdeki diğer temel görüş ise, ilerleme düşüncesinin modern dönemde doğmuş, özgün bir düşünce olduğunu iddia etmektedir. Bir diğer görüş ise daha genel olarak ilerleme düşüncesinin bütün Batı düşünce tarihinde var olduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, tarihsel ilerleme düşüncesinin kökeni konusundaki bu tartışmayı Löwith-Blumenberg tartışması bağlamında inceleyip değerlendirmektir.

It can be said that there are different opinions in the literature about the origin of the idea of historical progress. One of the main ones argues that the idea of progress was born in the theologies of history, while the philosophies of history continued this idea by secularizing it. Another basic view in the literature claims that the idea of progress is an original thought that was born in the modern period. Another view argues that the idea of progress more generally exists throughout the history of Western thought. The aim of this study is to examine and evaluate this debate on the origin of the idea of historical progress in the context of the Lowith-Blumenberg debate.
