SUMMARY According to the searc made by us, we heve seen that the ratio of watching the TV programmes can be affected by the type of pressing the TV programmes on the TV pages of newspapers. The readers can prefer the programmes by affecting the TV pages of newspapers. The Ratio of being watched between the relation of TV and watchers is effective and also it is same between the relation of readers end newspapers. Each newspapers support their own TV channels by advertisements, the newspaper give more places for some channels and less for some TV channels. The development of the press industry has been so fast up to today from starting day that the new technology in media world affects public life so much. Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826) thought correctly the power of the media in those years by saying“I could choose the second choice if I must choose a goverment without press or a press without goverment.”On the first part of this searc, it was studied the activity of the press, the general properties of the press end the shape of the pages at the term of republic and before republic. After pressing the first Turkish newspeper, the general properties and the shapes of the pages were searched before the establishing of the republic (1831-1923), at the term of establishing of republic, between 1923- 1950 the general properites of the newspapers and the shapes of the pages were serached ih details after printing with latin alphabets and radio's starting announcing. Between 1950-1970 the television started it's perss life and the generaly properites of the newspapers and shapes of the pages were searched in details, between 1970-1980 after beginning ofset press and devolopment in TV press, the newspapers and their pages shape were serached in details again. Since 1980 the newspapers and their pages have been searching with the technologic development, TV pages and additinal magazines of the newspapers. On the second part, there was analysis made (with SPSS programm) to see the properties and effects of the television programmes. This analysis includes five national newspapars (Hürriyet, Milliyet, Sabah, Türkiye and Cumhuriyet) between 1-31 may 1998, so there were totally 155 newspapers were searched that includes 31 units of these five national newspapers. As a result of this study and AGB datas, the advertising of thi programmes on their own newspapers affect the daily life and to watched bş more people increasing the rivalry between the TV channels, all of them wish to be watched much more and so tehy givemore places to their TV programmes. Finaly we can say that the newspapers can affect the daily life and the tha ratio of TV channels' being watched.
