Özet
XVIII. yy. Osmanlı Devleti'nde Batılılaşma hareketlerinin başladığı dönemdir. Batılılaşma doğrultusunda yapılan ıslahatların yönü ise yönetimden halka doğru olmuştur. Halkın yenilik hareketlerini benimsemesi ve çağa ayak uydurmasının ön koşulu ise hiç şüphesiz ki eğitimdi. Bu noktadan hareketle Osmanlı devletinde özellikle Meşrutiyet döneminde eğitimle ilgili önemli ıslahatlar yapılmıştır. Meşrutiyet Dönemiyle hız kazanan yenileşme hareketleri siyasi sebepler ve savaşlar neticesinde zaman zaman duraklasa da Cumhuriyet devrinde çok daha köklü reformlarla devam etmiştir. Bu çalışmamızda, eğitimde yenileşme hareketlerinin Sinop'ta ne derece uygulamaya konduğunu Müslüman okulları özelinde ele aldık. Araştırmamızla, açılan okullar, okullardaki öğrenci sayıları, okutulan dersler ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca dönemin Sinop Gazetesinde çıkan haberleri değerlendirilmiştir. Cumhuriyet döneminde eğitim alanında yapılan yenilikler de hızla halka yansıtılmak istenmiştir. Halkın eğitimi için ise öncelikle eğitimde birlik sağlanmış, daha sonra eğitimi kolaylaştıracak alfabe üzerinde durulmuştur. Halkın okur-yazar oranını yükseltmek amacıyla millet mektepleri kurulmuştur. Çalışmamızda Meşrutiyet'ten Cumhuriyet'e (1938'e kadar) Sinop'taki Müslümanlara ait okullar mercek altına alınmıştır.

The 18th century marks the beginning of Westernization movements in the Ottoman Empire. The reforms implemented in line with Westernization were directed from the administration towards the people. The prerequisite for the people to embrace these reforms and adapt to the times was undoubtedly education. Based on this premise, significant reforms related to education were implemented in the Ottoman state, particularly during the Constitutional Monarchy period. Although the modernization movements that gained momentum during the Constitutional Monarchy period were sometimes interrupted by political reasons and wars, they continued with much more fundamental reforms in the Republican era. In this study, we examined the extent to which the modernization movements in education were implemented in Sinop, specifically focusing on Muslim schools. Our research included the schools that were opened, the number of students in these schools, and the subjects taught. We also analyzed news articles published in the Sinop Newspaper of the time. During the Republican era, innovations in education were rapidly implemented to benefit the public. To promote public education, the focus was first on achieving unity in education, followed by the development of an alphabet to facilitate learning. Public schools were established to increase literacy rates. In this study, we will attempt to comprehensively examine the history of education in Sinop.
