ÖZET YARI GRUP VE YARI GRUP SONUÇLARI FIRAT ATEŞ Balıkesir Üniversitesi, Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü, Matematik Anabilim Dalı (Yüksek Lisans Tezi / Tez Danışmanı : Doç. Dr. Ahmet Sinan Çevik) Balıkesir, 2004 Bu çalışmada, grupların, yan grupların ve monoidlerin sunuşları ve de bu sunuşlara bağlı olan sonuçlar incelenmiş birbirleriyle olan bağlantıları ve farklılıkları verilmiştir. Ayrıca tersinir yan gruplann yapılan çalışılarak, serbest devirli tersinir yarı gruplann standart sunuşu tanımlanmıştır. Bunlara ek olarak da, özel bir tip yan grupta kelime probleminin çözülebilirliği gösterilmiştir. Bu tez beş ana bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölüm de tez çalışmasının sonraki bölümlerinde kullanılacak olan bazı temel tanım ve kavramlar verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde grup, yan grup ve monoid cebirsel yapılannın genel sunuşları çalışılmıştır. Aynca bu cebirsel yapılann sırasıyla, alt grubunun, alt yan grubunun ve alt monoidinin sunuşlarının bulunmasını sağlayan üç farklı metot kullanılmış ve örnekler verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde serbest tersinir devirli yan gruplar incelenerek, bu tür yan gruplann genel sunuşu oluşturulmuş ve bunlarla ilgili sonuçlar tartışılmıştır. Dördüncü bölümde gruplarda, yarı gruplarda ve monoidlcrdc karar verme (decision) problemi kısaca özetlenerek, bu yapılardaki kelime problemi çalışılmıştır. Son bölüm ise her bir bağımsız bölümde elde edilen sonuçlan içermektedir.

ABSTRACT, KEYWORDS SEMIGROUP AND SEMIGROUP RESULTS Fırat ATEŞ Balıkesir University, Institute of Science, Department of Mathematics (M.Sc. Thesis / Supervisor : Dr. Ahmet Sinan ÇEVİK Balikesir - Turkey 2004) In this work it has been investigated the presentations of groups, semigroups and monoids, and the related results of these presentations then it has been given the connections and disconnections between these features. Also, by studying the structures of inverse semigroups, we defined the standard presentation of free cyclic (monogenic) inverse semigroups. Moreover we showed that the solvability of the word problem for a special type of semigroup. This thesis contains five main chapters. In the first chapter, labelled by Introduction, it has been given some fundamental definitions and structures which will be used for the remaining chapters of this thesis. In Chapter 2, it has been studied the general presentations of special groupoids that are groups, semigroups and monoids. Furthermore it has been given three different methods to obtain the presentations of subgroups, subsemigroups and submonoids, respectively, of these groupoids and then has been given some applications of these. In the third chapter, by investigating the free inverse semigroups, we created the general presentation of these semigroups and discussed the related results of these presentations. In Chapter 4, by giving a short survey of the decision problems of groups, semigroups and monoids, it has been studied the word problem of these structures. The final chapter concerns about the results obtained in each independent chapters.
