Molla Şemseddin Muhammed b. Hamza el-Fenârî (d.834/1431) is a great scho lar who lived at the end of 14th century and at the beginning of 15th century. He was born in the region of Maveraunnehr. He came to Anatolia when he was young. He took his primary education from his father during his childhood. When he came to Anatolia, he learnt from Alaâddin Esved and Cemaleddin Aksarayî. And then he went to Egypt to complete his education under Ekmeleddin Babertî. After he retur ned to Bursa which was the capital of the Ottoman Empire, he was appointed as Kadî of Bursa in the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid. He went to Karaman and lived there for about ten years since there was a political confusion going on. He was the first to be appointed for the newly created post of Shayhulislâmlık in the Ottoman History by Murad II. He wrote many books in most of the Islamic sci ences such as tafsir, kalâm, fiqih, tasavvuf etc. He was intrested in tasavvuf as a mat ter of fact he adopted. My work consists of three chapters: After an introduction, I have dealt with Molla Fenârî's life and his works in de tail. In the second chapter, I have given some information about the thougth of Vah det-i Vücûd and its developmental history form Ibn Arabî to Molla Fenârî. In the third chapter, I have dealt with his views on Vahdet-i Vücûd, the Know ledge of God, Predestination and predetermination (Kaza ve Kader). In this work, I came to the conclusion that the phlosophy of Vahdet-i Vücûd was adopted by most of the scholars during the early Ottoman era and it affected the style of mystical life that they led. And they have tried to find the foundational bases of Vahdet-i Vücud in the Kur'an and Hadith.
