SUMMARY Anatolian people have accomplished a very special cultural formation, assembling his own vision of the world with its nature and environment together with his capability and achievement in art. Our traditional hand weaving with its original examples of strong historical past is just. One part of thousends of years of Anatolian art tradition and the most popular. Hand weaving which is dispersed all over Anatolia but unfortunately diminishing today, still goes on with different and interesting examples in North West Anatolia, South of Marmara Region. In the villages of the smoll town of Çanakkale and Balıkesir cities, productions characteristic of different weaves were chosen to trace all the periods of the weaving activity. Different types such as unwoven felt, table cloth, bed sheet, woven felt, cotton or woollen cloth (ehram), cheese cloth (çendele) are woven in the region. These examples are done by woven especially during the winter seasen in the regional where agriculture and cattle breeding is common. Most of these productions are used by the villages themselves for their own needs and a smoll amount is sold in the regional bazaars (markets) to provide some additional incime to the family budget.In the second part of this research, when one reaches to the sources of the weaving tredition in the region which has a rich history and cultural formation because of its geographical setting, one can follow that this subject has a very rich past that can be traced with cultural documents. The art of weaving in the region today can be pursued without any break from historical past until now, where although getting leases and lesses, it still exists with the most beautiful examples.
