Özet
Bizans imparatorlugu, baslangıcından yıkılısına dek çok zengin bir tören yasamınasahip olmus, baskent Konstantinopolis imparatorluk törenlerine ve dini törenleretanıklık etmistir.Tezimizin amacı 9. ? 11. yüzyıllar arasında Bizans Sarayı'nda ve Kilisesi'nde törenleriniçeriklerini, hiyerarsik düzeni ve liturjisini, tören kıyafetlerini ve törenlerin düzenlendigimekanları Madrid Skylitzes Kronigi'nin minyatürleri esliginde saptamak vebelgelemektir.Madrid Skylitzes Kronigi, ioannes Skylitzes'in 1070 civarında yazdıgı düsünülen ancakgünümüze ulasamayan Synopsis Historion'un minyatürlü tek kopyasıdır. Nerede, nezaman, kim tarafından ve kimin için kopyalandıgı kesin olarak bilinmeyen bu eser 811-1057 yılları arasını ele almaktadır. Bizans dünyasını anlatan tek Yunanca, minyatürlükronik olan yazmada bulunan 574 minyatürden 56'sı çalısmamızın kapsamınagirmektedir.Kronik'teki, imparatorluk törenlerinin tasvir edildigi 28 minyatürden yola çıkarak BizansSarayı'ndaki ?Taç Giyme ve Tahta Çıkıs Törenleri?, ?Ortak imparatorun Tahta ÇıkısTöreni?, ?Evlilik Törenleri? ve ?Zafer Alayları?, tören hiyerarsisi, liturjisi ve ikonografisiaçısından incelenmis ve bu törenlerin Konstantinopolis'te yapıldıgı mekanlar hakkındabilgi verilmistir.Dini törenlerin tasvir edildigi 28 minyatür, ?Vaftiz ve Din Degistirme Törenleri?, ?PatrikAtama Törenleri?, ?Özel Günler için Düzenlenen Ayinler? ve ?Cenaze Törenleri?, törenhiyerarsisi, liturjisi ve ikonografisi açısından incelenmis ve bu törenlerKonstantinopolis'teki mekanlar ile iliskilendirilmistir.Çalısma konusunu olusturan 56 minyatür, Kronik'teki ilgili metinler ile birlikte elealınmıstır. ?Tören ikonografisi? alt baslıgı altında yer alan veriler, imparatorVII.Konstantinos Porfyrogennetos'un, 5. ve 10. yüzyıllar arasında yazılmıs birçok resmibelgeyi bir araya getirerek olusturdugu, Bizans tarihine ve imparatorluk kültürüne aitbilgileri içeren çok önemli bir derleme olan ?De Cerimoniis Aulae Byzantinae? -Törenler Kitabı'ndan birebir çeviridir.Anahtar SözcüklerBizans, ioannes Skylitzes, imparatorluk Törenleri, Dini Törenler, El Yazması, Minyatür

Byzantine Empire always had a rich culture of ceremonies from the first day of itsfoundation until the last day it collapsed, and the capitol city of Constantinoplewitnessed many imperial and religious ceremonies.Our thesis? aim is ? with the help of miniatures in Skylitzes Matritensis ? to fix anddocument the contents of ceremonies, hierarchical order and liturgy, ceremonialcostumes and the places that ceremonies were held in Palace and Church between9th-11th centuries.Skylitzes Matritensis is the only copy with the illustrations of Synopsis Historion whichis believed to be written by Ioannes Skylitzes in 1070. It is not known where, when, bywhom and for whom this work had been copied, and it covers the years from 811 to1057. The codex is composed of 233 parchament folios and 574 miniatures. Ourthesis deals with 56 miniatures of the codex is the only illustrated chronicle in Greekand it about Byzantium.In the light of 28 miniatures in which the Imperial Ceremonies are described, thefollowing are studied in terms of hierarchical order, liturgy and iconography of theceremony: ?The Accession to the Thorne and The Coronation of the Emperor?, ?TheAccession to the Thorne and The Coronation of the Co-Emperor?, ?MarriageCeremonies? and ?Triumphal Processions?. Information is also given about places thatthese ceremonies were staged.In the light of 28 miniatures in which the Religious Ceremonies are described, thefollowing are studied in terms of hierarchical order, liturgy and iconography of theceremony: ?Baptism Ceremonies?, ?The Appointment of the Patriarch?, ?FuneralCeremonies? and Special Days? Ceremonies?. Information is also given about placesthat these ceremonies were staged.56 miniatures which this study deals with, are studied along with related textes. Datawhich appears under the subtitle of ?Iconography of the Ceremonies? which is theverbatim translation of ?De Cerimoniis Aulae Byzantinae? which includes a lot ofimportant information about the history of Byzantium and its culture of emperorship.?De Cerimoniis Aulae Byzantinae? by Emperor Constantine VII Porphyrogennetos is acompletion of official documents between fifth - tenth centuries.Key WordsByzantium, Ioannes Skylitzes, Imperial Ceremonies, Religious Ceremonies,Manuscript, Miniature
