Özet
Bu araştırmanın amacı, süsleme etkinliklerinin ilköğretim 5. sınıf öğrencilerinin Van Hiele geometrik düşünme düzeylerine etkisini saptamaktır.Araştırma, deneme modellerinden kontrol gruplu ön test-son test modele göre düzenlenmiş ve uygulama 2008-2009 Öğretim yılının 2. döneminde İstanbul Çekmeköy Alemdağ Mehmet Akif Ersoy İlköğretim Okulunda gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmada okulun 5/A ve 5/B şubelerinden; 5/A sınıfı kontrol, 5/B sınıfı deney grubu olmak üzere kura yöntemiyle yansız olarak belirlenmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında Van Hiele geometri testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın uygulamasına geçilmeden önce, Van Hiele geometri testi deney ve kontrol grubuna ön test olarak verilmiştir. Gruplar Van Hiele geometri testi sonuçlarına ve önceki döneme ait matematik dersi karne notlarına göre denkleştirilmiştir. Denkleştirme sonunda her iki grupta 20'şer öğrenci olmak üzere toplam 40 öğrenci denkleştirilmiştir. Deney grubuna süsleme etkinlikleri uygulanmıştır. Kontrol grubunda ise öğretim programının gerektirdiği uygulamalar devam etmiştir. Uygulama sonrasında Van Hiele geometri testi her iki gruba son test olarak verilmiştir. Verilerin çözümlenmesinde grupların kendi içindeki durumların belirlenmesi için SPSS'de Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Testi, gruplar arası karşılaştırmada ise Mann-Whitney U Testi kullanılmıştır ve gruplar arasındaki farkın anlamlılığı 0,05 düzeyinde yorumlanmıştır.Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; kontrol grubunun ön test-son test sonuçları arasında anlamlı bir fark bulunmamıştır. Deney grubunun ön test-son test sonuçları arasında son test lehine istatistiksel açıdan anlamlı bir fark olduğu saptanmıştır. Deney ve kontrol grupları karşılaştırıldığında, gruplar arasında küçük bir farka rastlansa da bu fark, istatistiksel olarak anlamlı değildir

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of tesselation activities on the Van Hiele geometric thnking levels of elementary scholl fifth class students.In this research, pre and post test controlled group model was used and the application is performed in the İstanbul Çekmeköy Alemdağ Mehmet Akif Ersoy Primary School in the second semester of 2008-2009 school year. In the investigation, among the sections in the school, 5/A section is stated as control and 5/B section is stated as experiment groups objectively by lottery method. For data collection, Van Hiele geometry test is used. Before the application of the study, Van Hiele geometry test is given as pre-test to the control and trial groups. The groups are balanced according to the results of Van Hiele geometry test and mathematics grades of previous semester. In the constitution of the groups, totally 40 students are balanced in such a manner that there exist 20 students in each group. Tessellation activities are performed to the trial group. However, the maths program continued in the control group. After the application Van Hiele geometry test is given to the both of the groups as the final test. In the data analysis Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test is used for SPSS for the determination of the status inside the groups and Mann-Whitney U Test is used for comparison between the groups and the average of the difference between the groups is interpreted at the 0,05 level.According to the results of the investigation, there exists no significant differences between the pre-test last-test results of the control group. It is determined that there is a considerable difference between the results of pre-test and last-test of the trial group in last-test?s favor. When the trial and the control groups are compared, although there is a small difference between these groups, the difference is not statistically significant.
