ABSTRACT Hazır, Fatma.“Critical Analysis of Innovative Attempts in Secondary Education (1990-1992), Master Thesis. Supervisor; Prof.Dr. Fatma Varış, University of - Ankara, Institute for Educational Sciences, Ankara, 1993, (V+122). The purpose of this study is to analyse the new decisions on secondary education taken at the Ministry of National Education between years 1990-1992 and to find out how far these innovative attempts are transferred over the schools.. To lay the foundation, decisions taken by the Law of Basic National Education and educational conventions held since 1923 were generally evaluated and their implications into the practice were analyzed. Also, the ”grading passing and credit system" put into practice in 1991-1992 in lyce-1 classes have been evaluated. The sample of this study is 110 administrative staff and teachers sellected at random and working in 22 secondary school of Ankara, in Türkiye. The sample is composed of 29 administrative staff and 81 teachers specialized in different disciplines such as Literatür, Science-Mathematics, Social Science, Music, Drawing and Physcial Education. The data is collected through interviews, in accordance with the prepared questionnaire forms. The findings have been analyzed through statistical techniques, percentage C % ) and frequency(f), the organized data have been presented in tables and with interpretations. In conclusion, this study revealed that the decisions taken between 1990-1992 years related to secondary education have not been adaquetely put into practice and innovative attempts have not been planned with in framework of overall curriculum development.
