Özet

ABSTRACT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A SOFTWARE TO GENERATE DATA FILES OF 2D OBJECTS FOR DRAFTING SOFTWARE PACKAGES ARSLAN F. Ender M.S. in Mechanical Engineering Supervisor: Prof.Dr.Abdülkadir ERDEN April 1993, 88 pages Development and increased usage of Image Processing, Computer Vision and Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems have greatly improved the users' productivity during the last decade. In this study, a bridge is developed between these three concepts. The output of Image Processing and Computer Vision application is designed as an input data file to a CAD software. The processing and conversion software uses the procedural programming techniques and is written in C++ programming language for personal computers with DOS operating systems. An experimental setup is used to implement the software. The setup has three main units; High resolution 582x575 black and white CCD camera, a frame grabber board and a 80486 based personal computer. As a result of the study, an image of a 2D machine element, captured through the camera and by the aid of the frame grabber board is processed for conversion to a DXF file format. The output of the developed software is an engineering drawing that can be visualized in Computer Graphics software package.
