Özet
Kaybedilmiş Birinci Dünya Savaşı ve son derece zor koşullarda kazanılmış Kurtuluş Savaşından sonra 1923 yılında ilan edilen Cumhuriyet rejimi ile her alanda devrimler gerçekleştiren Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin, yaklaşık 90 yıllık süreçteki mimarlık faaliyetinin çağa ayak uydurma çabası ve bu süreçte mimari proje yarışmalarının rolü çalışmanın temelini oluşturmaktadır.Giriş bölümünde; Mimari proje yarışmalarının mimarlık ortamını nasıl etkilediği, Avrupa ülkelerinin proje yarışmalarına verdiği önem ve gösterdiği ilgi, Türkiye ile karşılaştırmalı olarak anlatılmıştır.İkinci bölümde, çalışmanın amacı, kapsamı ve izlenen yol hakkında bilgi verilmiştir.Üçüncü bölümde Cumhuriyet tarihinin imar faaliyetleri araştırılmıştır. Araştırma yapılırken ülkenin yaşadığı toplumsal, siyasal ve ekonomik olayların keskin dönemeçleri saptanmış ve bu veri ile mimarlık ortamını şekillendiren dönemler belirlenmiştir. Bu dönemlerin mimarlık ortamında da dönüşümlerin yaşandığı, farklılığın oluştuğu dönemler olduğu anlatılmıştır. Anlatım yarışma dışı elde edilen projelerin görsel verileri, yarışma ile elde edilen projelerin analiz sonuçları ve görsel verilerinin sunumu ile zenginleştirilmiştir.Proje analizleri sadece dönemin yansıttığı toplumsal, siyasal ve ekonomik özelliklere göre değil, aynı zamanda yıllara, yapı türlerine, yapıldığı bölgeye, kentlere göre farklı başlıklarda incelenmiştir.Bölüm sonu, 90 yıllık yapılaşma sürecinin, belirlenen mimari dönemlere damga vuran imar faaliyetleri bakımından hem yarışmasız elde edilen hem de yarışma ile elde edilen projelerin karşılaştırılmasıdır.Sonuç olarak, bu analizler bize ülke mimarlığının hangi dönemlerde nasıl şekillendiği sonucunu göstermekte ve gelecek hakkında nasıl şekilleneceği tahminini yapma şansı vermektedir.

This study is based on the endeavors to modernize the architectural activities and the role of architectural project competitions in the Republic of Turkey in a 90-year period, during which the Country revolutionized in every aspect by the proclamation of the republic in 1923, after the losing World War I, and the hard-won Independence War.The influence of architectural project competitions on the architectural environment, and the importance placed by the European countries on, and their interest in such competitions are explained in comparison to Turkey in the introductory part.The purpose and scope of, and the methods used in the study are defined in the second part.Development throughout history of the Republic is researched in the third part. During the research the sharp turns of the social, political, and economic events experienced in the Country are specified, and the data obtained are used to specify the periods that formed the architectural environment. It is described that these are the periods, in which transformations and differentiations in architectural environment took part. The description is enriched with presentations of the visual data of the projects from outside the competitions, and the visual data and analysis results of the projects from competitions.Project analysis are carried out not only in terms of social, political and economical properties specific to the period, but in terms of years, the types of structures, and the places and cities they were built in, as well.In the last part, the projects from competitions, and from outside the competitions are compared in terms of remarkable developments that took part in certain architectural periods in the 90-year period.As a result, these analyses show us when and how the national architecture was formed, and give us the chance of predicting the future forms of it.
