Özet

Başta dini olmak üzere sosyal hayatla da ilgili önemli kararların alındığı konsillerden biri de XVI. yüzyılda gerçekleşen (1545-1563) Trent Konsilidir. Hıristiyanlığın geçirdiği en önemli dönüm noktalarından biri hiç kuşkusuz Luther'in manifestosuyla doruğa ulaşan Protestan reformudur. Batı Hıristiyanlığı bünyesinde ciddi bir kırılma yaratan bu ayrılık, tarafların birbirini küfürle itham etmesine, hatta sonrasında savaşlara kadar gitmiştir. Bu yeni durum ise Katolik Kilisesini endişelendirmiş, siyasi anlamda kendi hegemonyasını koruma ve teolojik açıdan da İznik Kredosunda belirlendiği şekliyle Hıristiyan amentüsünü ve diğer doktrinel ve kilise disiplini ile ilgili hususları tekrar vurgulama ihtiyacına sevk etmiştir. İşte bu yeni hareket,“Karşı Reform”olarak tanımlanmaktadır. Çalışmamızdaki temel amacımız, Katolik Kilisesini Protestan reformuna karşı çıkışa iten gerek dini gerekse siyasi sebepleri tespit edebilmek ve bunun pratikteki yansımalarını doğru bir şekilde inceleyebilmektir. Trent Konsili, sonraki dönemlerde gerçekleşen I. ve II. Vatikan konsilleriyle daha da belirginleşen Karşı Reform hareketinin ilk örneği sayılabilir.

One of these councils in which the crucial decisions had been taken about the social life in addition to the religious affairs mainly was the council of Trent gathered in XVI. centuriy (1545-1563). With certainity one of the most crucial points the christianity faced was the Protestant reform which reached its peak with the manifest of Luther. This division which created a serious broken in the structure of 'west christianity' caused for the sides to accuse each other with disbelieving and the wars in the end. This new situation concerned the Catholic Church and therefore, they reemphasized the Christian Credo as determined in the Nicene Creed along with other religious doctrines and other topics related to church disciplines. This was needed as to protect their political hegemony as well. This new movement is called“Counter Reformation”. Our aim in this study is to examine and define religious and political reasons that made the Catholic Church against the Protestant Reform and how this reaction is seen in practice. The Council of Trent can be seen as the first example of Counter Reformation movement that were seen more clearly after I. and II. Vatican Councils.
