Water problem is intensified from year to year iri“Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus”(TRNC). İt becomes necessary to study the level of drought of TRNC with a well known drought index to compare its situation with another countries and to take decisions against the future effects of drought. The drought severity is studied by using the method of“Palmer Drought Severity lndex”(PDSI) which is mostly used in recent years ali över the world. PDSI values showed that approximately 52 % of ali stations remains in the drought range and 45 % of ali stations in the normal range. The analysis pointed out that drought exist both in summer and in winter months. The drought percentages of the stations descend sequentially as follows: Guzelyurt, Ercan, Lefkosa, Magusa, Alevkaya.Yeni Erenköy, and Girne.
