Özet

Felsefe tarihi boyunca birçok filozofun metafizik anlayışı içerisinde ele alıp yorumladığı madde ve sûret ilişkisi araştırmamızın temel konusunu teşkil etmektedir. Madde, sûret ve ikisinin birleşimiyle oluşan cisim kavramları, ilk bakışta fiziğin sıradan kavramları gibi gözükse de, asıl itibariyle önemli metafizik sorunların çözümlenmesinde kullanılır. Bu nedenle filozoflar madde ve sûret kavramları üzerinde oldukça önemli düşünceler ortaya koymuşlar. Madde ve sûret varlıkla ilgili kavramlardır. Bundan dolayı ontoloji (varlık) felsefesi yapan her filozof madde ve sûret kavramlarından söz etmek durumundadır. İslam filozoflarından özellikle meşşâî felsefe ekolünde yer alan filozoflar bu kavramlardan çok bahsetmişlerdir. Çünkü madde ve sûret kavramları varlığı tanımamız açısından son derece önemli bir konumdadırlar. Bu çalışmamızda meşşâî felsefede, madde ve sûret ilişkisinin hangi bağlamda ve nasıl işlendiği ele alınıp incelenecektir. Bunu yaparken öncelikle Sokrates öncesi filozofların madde ve sûret anlayışları ele alındıktan sonra Eflatun, Aristo ve meşşâî filozofların madde ve sûret anlayışları, özellikle doğa felsefesi ve metafizik bakımından ele alınacaktır.

Throughout the history of philosophy, the relationship between matter and form which many philosophers have dealt with and interpreted with in the understanding of metaphysics is the main subject of our research. Although the concepts of matter, form and the body formed by the combination of the first two seem to be ordinary concepts of physics at first glance, they are mainly used to solve important metaphysical problems. For this reason, philosophers put forward very important thoughts on the concepts of matter and form. The matter and form are concepts related to being. Therefore, every philosopher who philosophize about ontology have to talk about the concepts of matter and form. Islamic philosophers especially the philosophers in the peripatetic school have mentioned these concepts very much. Because the concepts of matter and form are extremely important for our recognition of existence. In this study, it will be discussed and examined that in which context and how the relationship between matter and form are handled in peripatetic Islamic philosophy. In doing so, firstly, the matter and form understanding of philosophers who were before Socrates will be discussed, then the matter and form understanding of Platon, Aristotle and the peripatetic Islamic philosophers will be discussed, especially in the terms of philosophy of nature and metaphysics.
