Özet
Bu tezi hazırlamaktaki maksadım 1821 Yunan İsyanında etkiye sahip yazılı ve görsel propaganda mahiyeti taşıyan tüm envanterin bir değerlendirmesini gerçekleştirmektir. Zira isyan öncesi, ve anında farklı kategorilerde tasnif edebileceğimiz birçok çalışma neşredilmiştir. Bu kategoriler arasında tezimde üzerinde durduğum konu, isyanda Yunanlılara ve onlara destek veren farklı milliyetten kişilerin tüm yazılı çalışmalarının bir incelemesini yapmak olmuştur. Ayrıca çoğu kitaptaki resim, afiş ve sanatçıların konuyla ilgili tablo ve heykelleri okuma-yazma bilmeyenlere dahi ulaşabilmeyi mümkün kılmıştır. Çalışmada verilerin değerlendirilmesi neticesinde ulaşılmak istenen Avrupa ve Amerika'nın Yunanistan'ın bağımsızlığını elde etme sürecindeki katkılarını ortaya koymak ve propaganda üzerinden bu işlevin nasıl gerçekleştiğini göstermektir. Yazılı ve görsel materyallerin propaganda işlevini değerlendirme sürecinde Batı'nın Osmanlı algısı, şarkın Batı'nın hayal dünyasındaki imgesel karşılığı, biz ve ötekinin anlam dünyasında nasıl üretilip kullanıldığı ortaya konulacaktır.

My purpose in preparing this thesis is to make an evaluation of the entire inventory of written and visual propaganda that had an impact on the Greek Revolt of 1821. Because, before and during the rebellion, many studies were published that we can classify in different categories. Among these categories, the subject I focused on in my thesis was to make a review of all the written works of the Greeks and people of different nationalities who supported them in the rebellion. In addition, the pictures, posters and paintings and sculptures of the artists in most of the books made it possible to reach even the illiterate. The aim of the study as a result of the evaluation of the data is to reveal the contributions of Europe and America in the process of obtaining the independence of Greece and to show how this function is realized through propaganda. In the process of evaluating the propaganda function of written and visual materials, the West's perception of the Ottoman Empire, the imaginary equivalent of the East in the West's imagination, how we and the other are produced and used in the world of meaning will be revealed.
