This thesis is dedicated to analyzing two new systems that have been developed with the aim of comparing and assessing the quality of democracies among the world. I have attempted to analyze these two projects and find out some similarities and differences between them. It was really interesting for me studying these new methods and exploring the originality of Democracy Barometer system. I believe that I have developed my own knowledge with this study and it will be useful for my future academic researches. Studying two years abroad and arriving the final phase with this thesis was a great experience for me despite its difficulties. I am extremely grateful to my supervisor Prof. Michele Carducci for his endless support, encouragement and knowledge in this process. I would like to thank all my professors which have contributed to me both academically and personally. Thanks also to my friends and to the people I met during my time in Italy. Finally, I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to my family for their love, encouragement and moral support.
