Economic integration has been a common economic and politic phenomenon of international relations since World War II. Countries have seen international integrations as an appropriate device to solve their domestic and international political issues and raise their welfare by both transforming their infrastructures and increasing their foreign trades. Turkey's relation with the European Union is one of the examples of this trend. As a candidate country, Turkey has taken many steps toward the full membership of the EU. The Customs Union between the EU and Turkey has been the most significant one among them. In this study, The Customs Union between the European Union and Turkey was overviewed within the context of its historical background and Turkey' economic and foreign trade policy changes. After that, the effects of the Customs Union on Turkey's economy and foreign trade were studied and summarized from the point of view of the economic theories.
