Özet
Bu çalışma, amphoralar ışığında Pergamon'un ticari ilişkilerini, ekonomik aktivitelerini, üretim kapasitelerini ve kentin erişilebilirliğini kavramayı amaçlamaktadır. 1973 ve 1993 yılları arasında Pergamon'da gerçekleştirilen“Stadtgrabung”da (Konut Alanı Kazısı) açığa çıkarılan 201 adet amphora parçası makro ve mikro ölçekte incelenerek belgelenmiş ve kazı raporları, buluntu istatistikleri gibi arşiv materyalleri incelenmiştir. İncelenen bu amphoraların %47'si, terminus ante quem sağlayan, kapalı kontekstlere sahip sarnıçlarda, %53'ü ise Heroon / Odeion isimli yapıyı dolduran dolgu toprağında bulunmuştur. Bu çalışma, Pergamon'da bulunan mühürsüz amphoralar konusunda kapsamlı ilk çalışma olmakla beraber, Pergamon'un antik dönem ticaret ağlarındaki yerini ve rolünü anlamak için yeni ve farklı bir bakış açısı sunmayı amaçlamıştır. İncelenen amphoralar, MÖ 7. yüzyıldan, MS 7. yüzyıla uzanan bin yıllık süreçte, Pergamon'un Khios, Rhodos, Kos, Thasos, Lesbos Knidos, Ephesos, Güney ve Kuzey Ege, Karadeniz ve Batı Akdeniz gibi çeşitli üretim merkezleri ile ilişki kurduğunu göstermektedir. İthal ürünlerin yanısıra, yerel ve bölgesel üretim olarak sınıflandırılan amphoraların varlığı, Pergamon'un da antik çağın karmaşık ekonomik sisteminde kendine bir yer edindiğini göstermektedir.

This study aims to comprehend trade relations, economic activities, production capacities and the accessibility of the ancient city of Pergamon based on contextualised amphorae evidence. In total, 201 amphora pieces found at the so-called“Stadtgrabung”between 1973 and 1993 were examined on a macro and micro scale level and reviewed on the basis of excavation reports, find statistics and further archival material. 47 % of the studied amphorae were discovered in closed cistern contexts, thus providing termini ante quem for the finds, while 51 % were excavated in the fillings of the Heroon / Odeion. Therefore, the material basis allows for this thesis to be the first comprehensive study on unstamped amphorae found at Pergamon, offering a fresh and varied perspective on the role of the Pergamene Micro-Region within the Mediterranean trade network and beyond. The analysis of all finds illustrates that Pergamon became a distinct market for imported goods in the 7th century BCE and, over the time span of a millennium, established trade relations with production centers such as Chios, Rhodes, Cos, Thasos, Lesbos, Cnidos, Ephesos, the South and North Aegean, and the West Mediterranean in varying intensities. While the supply with imported goods played a major role, evidence of locally and regionally produced amphorae indicate that Pergamon itself developed into a key player in the complex economic system of the ancient Mediterranean World.
