SUMMARY Dr. Ersek was a well known thoracic surgeon and memorable Doctor In the Turkish Medical History. In the first years of his Surgical Career, he was a very succesfull Lung Surgeon. But Later on he became a cardiothoracic surgeon and performed many many cardiac operations. He was the founder of the thoracic and cardiovasculair surgecal center in Istanbul, Turkey. In the following years, this hospital became a very famous cardiac Center, because of the very low surgical mortality rate. The success was of course closely related to the excellent organization and the outstanding medical staff of the Hospital. It was obvious that Dr. Ersek was not only an excellent surgeon, but also a capable administrator. After his death his name was given to the hospital as Prof.Dr.Siyami Ersek Göğüs Kalb ve Damar Cerrahisi Merkezi. I always felt that making this documentary film concerning Dr. Ersek' s medical Career, would have been an oppurtunity to express my sincere gratitude and respect to his memory. fQfitifP 57
