Özet
This master thesis aims to analyze the relations between Turkey and Russia in the 21.century. Indeed, only 21.century is not only the time line to indicate the main perspectives and to present the main characteristics of this relation. After Soviet Union collapsed, Russian Federation gained independence on the 25th December 1991 as an inheritor. Turkish-Russian Relations were mainly formulated in 1990s and continued to be constructed at the beginning of 21.century in field of politics and economics. It is vital to take 15 July 2016 coups d'état attempt in Turkey into consideration because of the fact that mainly Turkey's and USA's interests massively have started to conflict with each other enormously as an accumulation of many serious disagreements and even it can be said that this conflict has been shaping the relationship between Turkey and Russia. At the begining of 21.century , in 2001 Afghanistan war , Iraq war in 2003, Russo-Georgian War in 2008, Libya Civil War in 2011, the situation in East Ukraine in 2014, annexation of Crimea in 2014, Syrian Civil War in 2015, the attempts of Greece and France to deactivate Turkey on the Mediterranean Sea, finally and most importantly, massive cooperation between USA and terrorists ( YPG, YPJ) ,which are the main branch of PKK in Syria, caused very serious security risks, jeopardised the stability and peace in the territories, created a fireball around Turkey and started to damage Turkey's national interests. These prominent incidents foster the massive dialogue and cooperation between Turkey and Russia. These two countries became the main actors not only in the region but also in the world scene. For this reason, TurkishRussian relations are not only prominent for themselves but also for the whole of the region. Russia-YPG-YPJ and Russia –Greece relations may negatively influence Turkish –Russian relations in the future because of the fact that Russian-YPG-YPJ and Greece relations are indefinite relations which can cause harmful effect in terms of Turkish legitimate national interest. This master thesis consists of four chapters. Firstly, in the introduction part includes literature and methods of research. Secondly, chapter 2 defines the political relations. Moreover, chapter 3 examines the economic relations. Finally, the last part is the conclusion. 4 Key Words Turkey, Russia, Turkish-Russian Relations, Turkish Foreign Policy, Russian Foreign Policy, USA, US-Turkey relations, security, security cooperation, economic cooperation, Syria, Middle East, conflict.
