This study examines a dryland basin area in the state of Arizona in the United States. Specifically, it looks at the Santa Rita Experimental Range. It gathers information on rainfall trends, including annual precipitation, number of wet days, rainfall intensity, number of storms, and annual runoff. These measures span 1975-2017. Analyses were performed to find whether there were any significant trends throughout the years. In addition. the years were grouped into two distinct groups: 1975-1999, and 2000-2016. Analyses were carried out to discover any significant differences between the two groups based on the previously mentioned measures. For the analysis of trends, Mann-Kendall time series test was performed. While there was a significant increase in the amount of wet days throughout the latter years, no other significant time series trends were found. In addition, MannWhitney U test was performed to compare the two batches of years. In this analysis, there were significant difference found in all our measures, indicating a fundamental difference between the two groups of years. This study concludes that there have been significant changes in precipitation patterns overall. This shift may be due to the increase of temperature trends that are caused by climate change.
