Dr. Samet Bağçe Ocak 1999, 75 sayfa Bu tez, bilimsel araştırma için bir yaklaşım edinme sorununu, bilim felsefesindeki“sosyal dönüş”açısından incelemektedir. Bilimle ilgili felsefi çalışmalardaki“sosyal dönüş”ün gelişimi ve belirgin rolü tarihsel bir çerçevede gösterilmektedir. Bu çalışma sosyal ve sosyal olmayan açıklamalar arasındaki tartışmanın temellerini, bilimle ilgili felsefi çalışmalarda bu tür temelselci yaklaşımların sonuçlarını belirterek ortaya koyacaktır. Bu tez, sosyal ya da usçu yaklaşımların birbirine rakip mi yoksa birbirini tamamlayıcı yaklaşımlar mı olduğunu araştırmaktadır.

Ill ABSTRACT“SOCIAL TURN”IN THE PHILOSOPHY OF SCIENCE SOCIAL/NONSOCIAL EXPLANATIONS Neslioğlu, E. Funda M.S., Department of Philosophy Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samet Bağçe January 1999, 75 pages This thesis analyzes the problem of finding an approach to scientific inquiry in the light of“social turn”in the philosophy of science. The development and evident role of the“social turn”in the philosophical studies of science will be indicated in a historical context. This study will try to give the basics of the controversy between the social and nonsocial explanations by indicating the results of such fundamentalist approaches in the philosophical studies of science. The thesis will inquire about whether the social and rational approaches are competitive or complementary.
