Özet
Bu tez çalışması için Tom Stoppard'ın dört oyunu, The Real Inspector Hound, After Magritte, Jumpers ve Travesties seçilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Stoppard'ın oyunlarında 'parodi', 'travesti', 'gizem' ve 'yanılsama' kavramlarını nasıl kullandığını göstermektir. Söz konusu kavramların analizinden önce, Stoppard ve 'postmodernizm' arasındaki ilişki araştırılacaktır. İlk bölümde 'parodi ve travesti' birlikte incelenerek aralarındaki fark ortaya konulacaktır. İkinci bölümde 'gizem ve yanılsama' Stoppard'ın sahne yönergelerini kullanımı göz önünde bulundurularak analiz edilecektir. Son olarak, Stoppard'ın oyunlarının yüksek bir entelektüelliğin ve teatralliğe düşkünlüğün ürünü olduğu sonucuna varılacaktır.

For this dissertation, four of Tom Stoppard's plays, The Real Inspector Hound, After Magritte, Jumpers, and Travesties, have been chosen. The aim of this study is to show how Stoppard uses 'parody', 'travesty', 'mystery' and 'illusion' in his plays. Before the analysis of above-mentioned terms, the relationship between Stoppard and 'postmodernism' will be sought. In the first chapter, 'parody and travesty' will be examined together in order to set out the difference between them. In the second chapter, 'mystery and illusion' will be analyzed by considering Stoppard's usage of stage directions. Finally, it will be concluded that his plays are products of high intellectuality and great fondness of theatricality.
