Özet
The purpose of the study is to examine the preference of parenting source in getting advice in modern Turkish society. In this context, the relationship of parenting source with generation, parenting self-efficacy, parenting knowledge, education and economic levels were investigated. 116 mothers and 49 fathers participated in this study (N=165). The age range of the younger generation were selected as 25-35, while the age range of the older generation were selected as 35-50. Parents were selected from the population with different socioeconomic and educational levels. Demographic Information forms and the preference of parenting source were asked. Moreover, participants completed the Parenting Self-Efficacy Scale and Knowledge of Child Development Inventory (KCDI). According to the result, it was found that there is no association between income levels and generation with preference of parenting sources. Parents who have higher educational degrees prefer to use doctors as a source, while parents who do not prefer their parents as a source in parenting. Furthermore, parents who use books have high parenting knowledge scores and parents who prefer to use doctors as a source have higher self-efficacy scores. In this context, recommendations for future studies and limitations of this study were discussed
