SUMMARY The concept of quality with respect to customer satisfaction has been with us since the human being produces for others. There are two important things for a product and a production process. One of them is the cost of the product, which implies the cost of scrap and rework. The other important thing is the quality level of the product. While markets become more global today, both of them are very important for a company. Companies must reduce their costs and increase the level of the quality, in order to maintain their market share. If the cost of the product is not low enough or the quality of the product is not satisfactory, customers don't buy it. In order to increase the quality level and to reduce the costs, some quality tools are needed. One of them and may be the most effective of them is Statistical Process Control. The purpose of this study is to provide a thorough coverage of the Statistical Process Control Application of TEE Sutem Plant. In the Chapter 1, TEE Sutem Plant is presented. The history, achievements, products and customer profile, marketing strategies, technologies, workforce of the TEE Sutem plant are briefly explained. Other approaches for business excellence of Sutem Plant are also listed. At the end of the chapter some figures are given to explain the organizational structure of the plant within the KOÇ-Group in detail. In the Chapter 2, the application on Sutem Plant is explained in detail. All the activities done from the beginning of the statistical process control project are listed and explained with figures and tables. The main steps of the project on Sutem Plant are : to determine the strategical products, to sort the strategical products according to the importance, to determine and sort the critical measures, education of the employees, machine capability analysis, problem solving and the benefits after the improvement activities. In the Chapter 3, the selected parts from the education material of sutem plant are shown. The main theoretical concepts about statistical process control are explained in these education documents. The topics are so presented so that all ofthe employees can easily understand them. At the end of the chapter three case studies are given that are also used by the education of the employees after the theoretical parts. In the Chapter 4, basic documents of statistical process control on sutem plant are given. These documents are prepared according to ISO9001 quality management system. IX
