Özet (Çeviri)

LiDAR panoptic segmentation (LPS) a crucial component of robotic perception, enabling a comprehensive understanding of 3D scenes. However, the training of effective LPS models is hindered by the substantial requirement for human-annotated data, which can be both time-consuming and expensive. This annotation burden poses a significant barrier to the widespread adoption of LPS methods, emphasizing the need for label-efficient techniques that can minimize human intervention. To address this challenge, we propose a bootstrapping approach that leverages visual panoptic segmentation. We train a 2D label-efficient network to obtain panoptic pseudo-labels using thirty annotated images and project these predictions into 3D point clouds. By utilizing the inherent geometric properties of the 3D point clouds, we apply clustering techniques to refine and improve the quality of the pseudo-labels. Additionally, we enhance clustering effectiveness by accumulating scans over time and separating ground points, leading to more accurate and robust segmentation results. Finally, we train an off-the-shelf LPS network with our pseudo-labels for real-time deployment. To the best of our knowledge, our method is the first work that uses 2D label-efficient annotations for LPS task, and we achieve 46.5 PQ performance in the nuScenes dataset compared to 77.1 PQ of fully supervised methods.
