Aim: This descriptive study was conducted to determine the patient safety perceptions of operating room workers and the factors affecting patient safety perceptions. Methods: The research was conducted with operating room workers across Turkey. The sample of the study consisted of 384 operating room workers who met the inclusion criteria. Data were collected online via the Internet using the“Healthcare Workers Sociodemographic and Occupational Characteristics Form”and the“Leiden Operating Room and Intensive Care Safety Scale”using the snowball sampling method. Data were analyzed using a statistical package program on the computer. The findings were interpreted with a 95% confidence interval and a significance level of 0.05. Results: The average score that operating room staff got from the Leiden Operating Room and Intensive Care Safety Scale (LAYGÖ) was 106.17 ± 16.03, the average score they got from the Teamwork and Awareness sub-dimension was 31.42 ± 5.57, the average score they got from the Resource Management and Planning sub-dimension was 25.17 ± 4.39, the average score they got from the Employee Resources and Supervision sub-dimension was 14.82 ± 3.40, the average score they got from the Team Work Instructions and Preparations sub-dimension was 13.82 ± 2.53 and the average score they got from the Training and Access to Information sub-dimension was 20.94 ± 4.32. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of the total LAYGÖ scores of operating room staff according to the institutions they worked (KW=11.079; p<0.05). Accordingly; it was found that the total scores of those working in private hospitals were higher than those working in city hospitals, university hospitals and state hospitals. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of the total scores of the operating room workers in terms of whether they worked in the unit voluntarily (Z=-2.317; p<0.05). It was found that the total scores of those working in the unit voluntarily were higher than those who did not work in the unit voluntarily. A statistically significant difference was found in terms of the total scores of the operating room workers according to the operating room they worked in (Z=-3.461 p<0.001). It was found that the total scores of those working in central operating rooms were lower than those working in decentralized operating rooms. It was found that the desire of the operating room workers to work in the unit they were in positively predicted the Teamwork and Awareness sub-dimension score (β=0.136; p<0.05). It was found that the operating room staff working in a private hospital positively predicted the Resource Management and Planning subdimension score (β=0.131; p<0.05). It was found that the operating room staff being female (β=0.130) and working in a private hospital (β=0.165) positively predicted the Employee Resources and Supervision subdimension score (p<0.05). It was found that the operating room staff working in a private hospital (β=0.135) and receiving training on patient safety culture (β=0.100) positively predicted the Team Work Instructions and Preparations subdimension score (p<0.05). It was found that the operating room staff being technicians (β=0.199), receiving training on patient safety culture (β=0.115) and wanting to work in the unit (β=0.164) positively predicted the Education and Access to Information subdimension score (p<0.05). It was found that the operating room staff working in a private hospital (β=0.192; p<0.001) and wanting to work in the unit (β=0.132; p<0.05) positively predicted the total LAYGO score. Conclusion: It was observed that the operating room staff had a positive perception of patient safety above average and the most positive perceptions were related to team work instructions and preparations. It was concluded that the perceptions of the operating room staff regarding patient safety varied according to age, gender, marital status, education status, institution they work in, occupational groups, the operating room they worked in, education status, voluntary employment status and were also affected by the institution they worked in, the operating room they worked in and voluntary employment status.
