Özet
Müzeler ve galeriler evrensel eğitim kurumlarıdır. Kültürü, yaratıcılığı, değerleri ve fikirleri içine alan bir ifade gücüne sahiptirler. Eğitim ve öğrenim her zaman BK'daki müzelerin ve galerilerin tam ortasında yer almış, ancak özellikle son otuz yıldır kültür kurumları içerisindeki eğitsel faaliyetlerde hızlı bir gelişme olmuştur. Müze ve galeri eğitiminde eğitsel faaliyetlerin gelişimi özellikle çocuklara ve gençlere yönelik olarak artmıştır. Bu bitirme tezi, BK'daki müzelerin ve galerilerin eğitsel faaliyetlerinin bir analizidir. Aynı zamanda, sanatçılar ve öğretmenler ile galeri ve müze eğitmenlerinin gençlerin öğrenimindeki rolünü belirlemeye de çalışmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, aşağıdaki sorulara yanıt aramaktır: 1. Galeri ve müze eğitimi gençlerin öğrenim ve eğitimine ne şekilde katkıda bulunur? 2. Sanatçının gençlerin öğrenim ve eğitimindeki rolü nedir? Bu sorulara yanıt vermek amacıyla, bu çalışma literatür taraması, raporlar ve durum çalışmaları yöntemlerini benimsemiştir. Sonuçlardan, aşağıda belirtilen çıkarımlar yapılmıştır; bu da şunu ortaya koymaktadır: Gençlerin daha bağımsız bir şekilde çalışmasını desteklemek amacıyla, okullar dışında farklı bir kültürel atmosferde daha az eğitim aldıkları ve kendileri için daha fazla keşif yaptıkları uygun bir ortamın yaratılması daha etkili ve verimli bir eğitim sağlar. Ayrıca, müzeler, galeriler, okullar ile sanatçılar arasındaki ortaklıklar, müzeler ve galeriler gençlere yönelik araştırma araçları ve çeşitli anlayış beklentileri sağladığında, gençlerin öğrenim sürecinde daha etkili olabilir. Sanatçının gençlerin öğrenim ve eğitimindeki rolüne gelince… bir eğitim ortamında rolleri sürekli olarak değiştiğinden dolayı, eğitim çalışması üstlendiğinde her zaman sanatçının statüsü ile ilgili büyük sorular ortaya çıkmıştır: Sanatçılar çalışma arkadaşları, akıl hocaları, kolaylaştırıcılar, rol modelleri ya da motive ediciler olabilir. Bir sanatçının eğitim ve öğrenimde yer alması taze bir dinamik sağlar. Sanatçının mesleki itibarı gençlerin tavırlarını ve davranışlarını etkileme gücüne sahiptir.

Abstract Museums and galleries are universal educational institutions. They have an expressive power which involves culture, creativity, values and ideas. Education and learning have always been at the heart of museums and galleries in the UK but especially for the past thirty years there has been a rapid growth of educational activities within cultural institutions. The development of educational activities in the museum and gallery education have augmented particularly for children and young people. This dissertation is an analysis of the educational activities of museums and galleries in the UK. It also seeks to define the role of artists, teachers and gallery and museum educators in young people's learning. The purpose of this study is to seek answers to the following questions: 1. In which way does the gallery and museum education contribute to the young people's learning? 2. What is the role of the artist in the young people's learning and education? To answer these questions, this study adopted the methodologies of literature review, reports and case studies. From the results, the following conclusions emerged, which suggest that: Creating the convenient environment to support young people to work more independently, one in which they are instructed less and find out more for themselves, in a different cultural setting other than schools, provide a more effective and efficient education. Moreover, partnerships between museums, galleries, schools and artists can be more effective in young people's learning process when museums and galleries provide the research tool and a various understanding prospects for the young people. As for the artist's role in young people's learning and education, there have always been big questions about artist's status when undertaking education work because in an educational context, their role is always changing: they can be collaborators, mentors, facilitators, role models or motivators.The involvement of an artist in education and learning provides a fresh dynamic. The artist's professional credibility have the power to influence young people's attitudes and behaviours.
