Özet
Bu tez ve eser çalışmasında, deneysel müzik insanı John Cage'in avangard ve post-avangard süreçler bağlamında tiyatroya bakış açısı ve bu bakış açısı bağlamında oluşturduğu“rastlantısallık”,“sessizlik ve eylemsizlik”ve“izleyici katılımı”kavramları irdelenerek; çağdaşı olan tiyatro insanları Robert Wilson, Anne Bogart ve Richard Schechner'in teatral estetiklerine olan etkilerinin de ışığında, bir performans eseri oluşturmak hedeflenmiştir. Bu hedef doğrultusunda ilk olarak John Cage'in tiyatroya bakış açısı avangard süreçler bağlamında araştırılmış;“rastlantısallık”,“sessizlik ve eylemsizlik”ve“izleyici katılımı”kavramları anlaşılmaya çalışılmış ve bu kavramlar bağlamında ortaya çıkarmış olduğu eserler incelenmiştir. Daha sonraki aşamada, Cage'in ve bu çalışma bağlamında araştırılan üç kavramının Robert Wilson, Anne Bogart ve Richard Schechner'in estetikleri üzerindeki etkiler araştırılmıştır. Bu araştırma esnasında bu üç ismin John Cage'den etkilenerek oluşturdukları eserler ve teknikler incelenmiştir. Böylece çalışmanın bu kısmına kadar olan süreç, bu çalışma sonunda çıkarılması hedeflenen performans eserinin de estetik çerçevesini oluşturmuştur. Tüm bu etkiler ışığından ilhamla, araştırılmış olan üç kavram da kullanılarak, 2025 senesinde Türkiye'de John Cage etkisiyle bir performans tasarımı yapılmış ve bu tasarım sonucunda bir çıktı alınarak, günümüzde Türkiye'de böyle bir tasarımın ne kadar mümkün olabildiği tartışılmıştır.

In this thesis and work of art, experimental musician John Cage's perspective on theater in the context of avant-garde and post-avant-garde processes and the concepts of“randomness”,“silence and inertia”and“audience participation”that he created in the context of this perspective are analyzed; in the light of the effects on the theatrical aesthetics of his contemporaries Robert Wilson, Anne Bogart and Richard Schechner, it is aimed to create a performance work. In line with this goal, firstly, John Cage's perspective on theater was investigated in the context of avant-garde processes; the concepts of“randomness”,“silence and inertia”and“audience participation”were tried to be understood and the works he created in the context of these concepts were analyzed. In the next stage, the effects of Cage and the three concepts researched in the context of this study on the aesthetics of Robert Wilson, Anne Bogart and Richard Schechner were investigated. During this research, the works and techniques created by these three names under the influence of John Cage were analyzed. Thus, the process up to this part of the study has also formed the aesthetic framework of the performance work that is aimed to be produced at the end of this study. Inspired by all these influences, using all three concepts researched, a performance design with the influence of John Cage was made in Turkey in the year 2025, and as a result of this design, a output was obtained and it was discussed to what extent such a design is possible in Turkey today.
