ABSTRACT Today mass-media especially television plays an esential rolen on cultural, social and economical issues. Television is expected to contribute a lot to social harmony, government policies, education and entertainment. As television (TV) has visual and audible characteristics that separate it from the other mass communication mediums. In our age, because of the rapid high-tech developments in communications sector the importance of the international broadcasting has become very important. Even international broadcasting has been a medium that melts down cultural differences between nations in a melting pot. The importance of television broadcasting could be changeable from region to region even from country to country. Television as a high-tech media, it may sometimes have advantages and disadvantages while serving on the behalf of the community. In this thesis I have explored the aspect of television broadcasting in four sections under the title of“Socially The Influences of Television on Community in İsparta”. In section one, you will see the definition of communication, the other elements in this procedure, the importance of communication mediums in a society and other social communication media. It has also been explored in this section that the development and functions of television are very influential on society. These issues have been emphasized in a detailed way. In section two, I have tried to find out the advantages and disadvantages of the television on society and its members. In section three, you will see the exploration of functions of the television in terms of social, cultural and economics. In the last section (section four), you will find out the results of a survey that was carried out in two totaly different districts of İsparta. And the effects and influences of the television on a society has been laid down in a detailed way, and thanks to these studies I have managed to reach some valuable conclusions. VUI
