Katılımcıların birçoğu; cami atmosferinde hissettikleri huzur, Kur'an tilaveti, cemaat deneyimi ve gönüllü rehberlik gibi unsurların İslam'a geçiş sürecinde belirleyici olduğunu ifade etmiştir.

Religious conversion is a profound transformative process through which individuals undergo a shift not only in their belief systems but also in their quests for identity and meaning. This process can sometimes be shaped by experiences in sacred spaces, creating a foundation for embracing a new faith. This study aims to explore the conversion experiences of foreign visitors from diverse religious backgrounds who came to Türkiye and embraced Islam, specifically within the context of sacred space. Additionally, it seeks to reveal the impact of mosque experiences on their conversion processes. The research was conducted using a qualitative phenomenological design. The participant group consisted of 18 individuals who decided to convert to Islam in Sultanahmet and Çamlıca Mosques between 2022 and 2024. The data obtained were analyzed through thematic analysis. The findings revealed that mosques are not merely architectural structures but spaces that trigger spiritual purification, divine connection, and identity transformation. Many participants stated that factors such as the sense of peace they felt in the mosque atmosphere, the recitation of the Qur'an, communal worship experiences, and volunteer guidance were decisive in their conversion to Islam. The results indicate that sacred spaces play a meaningful role in religious transformation processes and support the individual's inner journey of change. The findings also show that most participants previously had limited knowledge of or held prejudices about Islam, and their mosque experiences contributed to a positive change in these perceptions. The architectural simplicity and silence of the mosques provided inner peace; observing and participating in worship practices such as prayer, along with the sincerity felt in the space, had a positive emotional impact on visitors. Furthermore, explanatory conversations with mosque volunteers increased the visitors' interest in Islam, and the volunteers were perceived as trustworthy figures. Ultimately, the mosque visit experience shaped the spiritual and mental world of visitors, enabling them to adopt a new belief system, while volunteer services emerged as a key facilitating factor in this process.
