Özet
Sinema, edebiyattan resime, tiyatrodan müziğe kadar birçok sanatla yakından bir ilişki içerisindedir. Bu ilişkiyle birlikte sinema diğer sanat dallarından beslenir. Bu bağlamda sinema eserleri tiyatro, edebiyat ve çizgi roman gibi diğer sanat eserlerinden uyarlanan sinema eserleri üretebilir. Sinemanın uyumlu uyarlamalar yaptığı eserler arasında çizgi romanlar yapı benzerliği itibariyle önemli bir yere sahiptir. Çizgi romandan sinemaya uyarlanan pek çok eser vardır. Harley Quinn karakteriyse çizgi romandan sinemaya uyarlanan karakterlerden biridir. Sinemada karakterin oluşumunda etkili olan üç temel öğe vardır: senarist, oyuncu ve yönetmen. Senarist hikâyeyi yaratan; oyuncu karaktere hayat veren; yönetmense filmin yaratılmasından ve sunulmasından sorumlu kişidir. Harley Quinn karakterinin yer aldığı farklı yönetmenler tarafından yönetilen Suicide Squad (2016), The Birds of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn (2020) ve The Suicide Squad (2021) filmleri, yönetmenin karaktere etkisini incelemek için uygun örneklem olarak saptanmıştır. Harley Quinn karakterini sinemaya uyarlanan diğer karakterlerden ayıran temel özellik üç filmde de aynı oyuncu tarafından karaktere hayat verilmiş olmasıdır. Ayrıca senaristler hali hazırdaki karaktere etki etmeden hikâyeler oluşturmuşlardır. Dolayısıyla yönetmenin karaktere etkisinin yalın bir biçimde incelenebilmesi olanağıyla karaktere oyuncu ve senarist etkisi olmadan yönetmenlerin karakterin inşasındaki etkisini ortaya çıkarmak amaçlanmıştır. Harley Quinn karakterine üç yönetmenin etkisi karakterizasyon ve stilizasyon kavramları çerçevesinde betimsel analiz yöntemiyle incelenmiş, auteur eleştiri ve mizansen eleştirisi yöntemlerinden de faydalanılmıştır. Tezin sonunda karakterin yeniden inşasında yönetmenin etkisinin büyük olduğu, yönetmenin bakış açısının karakterin tanımlanmasını baştan yarattığı sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Dolayısıyla tez çalışmasının oyuncu ve senarist etkisi olmadan yönetmenin karakteri inşası bağlamında yol gösterici bir çalışma olduğu düşünülmektedir.

Cinema is closely intertwined with many art forms, ranging from literature to painting, and from theatre to music. Through this relationship, cinema draws inspiration from other art forms. In this context, cinematic works can be produced by adapting other artistic works, such as plays, literature and comic books. Among the works from which cinema creates faithful adaptations, comic books hold a significant place due to their structural similarities. There are many works adapted from comic books to cinema. The character of Harley Quinn is one of the characters adapted from comic books to cinema. There are three key elements that influence the creation of a character in cinema: the screenwriter, the actor and the director. The screenwriter creates the story; the actor brings the character to life; and the director is responsible for the creation and presentation of the film. The films Suicide Squad (2016), The Birds of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020), and The Suicide Squad (2021) all directed by different directors and featuring the Harley Quinn character have been identified as suitable examples for examining the director's influence on the character. The key feature that distinguishes the character of Harley Quinn from other characters adapted for the cinema is that she has been portrayed by the same actress in all three films. Furthermore, the screenwriters have crafted their stories without altering the existing character. Consequently, the aim was to reveal the directors' influence on the character's construction free from the influence of the actor and screenwriters by utilising the opportunity to examine the director's impact on the character in a straightforward manner. The influence of three directors on the Harley Quinn character was examined through a descriptive analysis within the framework of characterisation and stylisation, drawing upon auteur theory and mise-en-scène criticism. The thesis concludes that the director's influence is significant in the reconstruction of the character, and that the director's perspective fundamentally shapes the character's definition from the outset. Consequently, it is considered that this thesis serves as a guiding study in the context of the director's construction of the character, free from the influence of the actor and screenwriter.
