Özet
GEDİKPAŞA ÇİLAVCI SOKAK VE ÇEVRESİNDE SIHHİLEŞTİRME ÇALIŞMASI ÖZET Tarihi Bizans dönemine kadar uzanan Gedikpaşa; Ermeni, Rum ve Müslüman halkın yıllar boyu birarada yaşadığı ve bu grupların kendi kültürel özellikleri ve yaşam tarzlarıyla özgün bir mimari biçim yarattıkları kozmopolit bir yerleşmedir. 15. yy' dan başlayarak İstanbul için önemli bir bölge olan semt, esas gelişimini, 19.yy'da tamamlayarak en canlı ve parlak dönemini yaşamıştır. 1960'lardan sonra bölgeye yerleşen atölye işleviyle birlikte fiziksel ve sosyal yapıda değişim başlamıştır. Günümüzde ise semt tarihi özelliklerini giderek kaybetmektedir.“Gedikpaşa, Çilavcı Sokak ve Çevresinde Sıhhileştirme Çalışması”konulu tez kapsamında, bölgenin giderek yok olan tarihi özelliklerinin saptanması ve bu özellikleri koruyan bir sıhhileştirme projesinin hazırlanması amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında, bölgenin taşıdığı kültürel ve tarihi özellikler günümüz koşullan ve yörenin gereksinimleri çerçevesinde değerlendirilerek, bölgenin çağdaş bir görüntüye kavuşması için öneriler hazırlanmıştır. Tezin birinci bölümünü oluşturan girişte; çalışmanın amacı belirtilmekte ve tezi oluşturan bölümlerin içerikleri hakkında kısa bilgiler verilmektedir. İkinci bölümde ise, Gedikpaşa'nın İstanbul içindeki yeri, konumu ve coğrafi özellikleri anlatılmaktadır. Üçüncü bölümde, bölgenin çeşitli alt başlıklarda toplanan özelliklerine yer verilmektedir. Gedikpaşa'nın tarihsel gelişimiyle birlikte, sosyal ve fiziksel yapısındaki değişimler de Bizans, Osmanlı ve Cumhuriyet dönemlerine bağlı olarak anlatılmaktadır. Dördüncü bölümde semt içinde yer alan çalışma alanının sınırları ve seçim nedenleri belirtildikten sonra, buradaki anıtsal değerler ve sivil mimarlık örnekleri plan ve cephe özellikleri, yapım tekniği ve malzeme kullanımı açısından incelenmekte, çeşitli alt başlıklarda gruplandınlan tipolojik özellikler irdelenmektedir. Söz konusu fiziksel yapı özelliklerinin yanı sıra, çalışma alanının sosyal ve ekonomik yapısı da, anket sonuçlan ve işlevsel analizlerin değerlendirilmesi yoluyla ortaya konulmaktadır. Beşinci bölümde ise, çalışmaya başlarken semt içinde en az değişime uğrayan kesimlerinden biri olarak saptanan Çilavcı Sokak tespit, çizim ve gözlemlere dayalı olarak incelenmektedir. Bölgeye özgü nitelikleri bünyesinde barındıran tarihi yapılan, son zamanlarda yapılan betonarme binaları ve aralarındaki boş alanlarıyla sokak, bölgenin bugünkü durumunu bütünüyle yansıtan bir örnek niteliğindedir. Bu nedenle de daha ayrıntılı bir biçimde incelenmesi ve bölge geneli için geçerli olabilecek önerilerin bu sokak üzerinde gerçekleştirilmesi düşünülmüştür. Bu amaçla xısokaktaki konutların her birinin tipolojik özellikleri belirtilip, binalarda meydana gelen değişimler ve bunların fiziksel mekan üzerinde yarattığı sorunlar saptanmış ve bunlara yönelik çözümler üretilmiştir. Altıncı bölüm ise, bölgeyle ilgili kurul tarafından alınan koruma kararlarının irdelenmesini, yapılan tespit ve gözlemlerin değerlendirilmesini ve yöre için geliştirilen özel yapılaşma koşullarını kapsamaktadır. Yedinci bölümde ise çalışmanın sonucu üzerinde durulmaktadır. Tez, çalışma alanının analiz ve öneri paftaları, Çilavcı Sokak'ta yapılan mevcut durum ve öneri siluetlerin yer aldığı çizimlerle desteklenmektedir. xu

REHABILITATION PROJECT OF GEDIKPAŞA ÇİLAVCI STREET AND ITS' VICINITY SUMMARY Gedikpaşa, which has a history dating back to Byzantine period, is one of the cosmopolitan locations of the historical peninsula where Armenian, Greek and Muslim people lived together for years and these groups created an original architectural identity with their cultural characteristics and life styles. The district, which is an important region for Istanbul starting from 15th century, completed its' real development in 19th century and lived its' most vivid and bright period. With the workshop function settling in the region after 1960's, a change in the physical and social structure had started. In present, the district is gradually loosing its' historical characteristics. Within the range of the thesis about“Rehabilitation Project of Gedikpaşa Çilavcı Street and its' vicinity”, the determination of the historical characteristics, which are gradually vanishing, and preparing a rehabilitation project to conserve these characteristics, are aimed. Within the range of this work, the cultural and historical characteristics are evaluated in the frame of today's conditions and the region's requirements, and proposals are prepared to obtain a modern vision in the region. In the introduction which is the first section of the thesis; the purpose of the work and its' range is described and short information about the contents of each section comprising the thesis are given. In the second section, Gedikpaşa' s place, location and geographic qualities in Istanbul are described. In the third section, the characteristics of the region collected under various sub-titles are described. Together with Gedikpaşa' s historical development, also the changes in social and physical structure are explained in connection with Byzantine, Ottoman and Republic periods. In the fourth section, after the indication of the borders of the work site in the district and reasons of its' selection, the monumental values and civil architecture samples are examined regarding the plan and facade specifications, construction techniques and material usages and typological specifications grouped under various sub-titles are inspected. Besides the physical structure characteristics mentioned, the social and economical structure is also presented by means of the evaluation of the inquiry results and functional analysis. In this section, the changes, which effect the physical structure considerably, are also mentioned. In the fifth section, Çilavcı Street, which was determined in the beginning of the study as one of the least changed parts in the district, is examined depending on the determination, drawing and observation. The street with the historical buildings, xi 11which comprises in its' structure, the characteristics particular to the region, the concrete buildings constructed in the recent years and the empty areas between them, has the quality of a sample reflecting completely the status of the region today. Due to this, examination of it in more details and realization of the proposals, which can be efficient for the region in general, on this street, is planned. With this purpose, the typological specifications of each house on the street are indicated, the changes which took place in these buildings and the problems caused by these on the physical places are determined and solutions directed to these are produced. The sixth section comprises the examination of the conservation decisions taken by the council for the region, the evaluation of the determinations and observations made and the special structuring conditions developed for the region. Interference proposals developed for the work site and Çilavcı Street also take place in this section. In the seventh section, the conclusion of the study is dwelt. The thesis is supported by analysis and proposal maps of the work site, the present situation made in Çilavcı street, and the drawings comprising the proposal silhouettes. At the end of the study, there are the attachments of documents and photographs and the section of the resources related to the subject. xiv
