Özet
Osmanlı askeri mimarisi, klasik dönemden itibarenberi kale ve sur sistemine dayalı olarak inşa edilmiştir. 18. yYüzyıl ile birliktedan itibaren dünyada ateşli silahların gelişmesi ile mimaride köklü değişimler yapılmasını gerekli kılmıştır. Avrupa devletlerinde gelişen zamana uygun gelişmiş tahkimat yapıları, Osmanlı İmparatorluğu'nu da etkilemiş ve alışılagelmiş savunma birimleri yerini daha düşük kotlu, topografya uyumlu ve hemen hemen her yerde yapılan tabya sistemlerine bırakmıştır. Çalışmamızdada Aziziye Tabyası'nın Avrupa ve Osmanlı Dönemi'nde yapılangörülen savunma yapılarının birimleri mimari noktada farklı ve benzer özellikleri irdelenmiştir. Araştırmamızda nitel ve nicel yöntem uygulanmış, literatür taraması ve, saha çalışması ve gözlemlerle birlikte ulaşılan veriler değerlendirilmiştir. Yapıların koruma sorunları bugünkü durumları ile değerlendirilmiştir. Bu tabyanın halkın eliyle de kurtarılmış olması yapının tarihsel konumunu bir kez daha yükseltmiştir. Sonuç bölümünde, Aziziye Tabyası'nın mimari yapısı, plan düzeni, malzeme kullanımı, savunma unsurları ve topografya ile ilişkisi yönünden analiz edilmiştir. Bu tabyanın Osmanlı savunma sistemi içindeki işlevi modern tahkimat teorileri çerçevesinde ele alınmıştır. Bundan dolayı tabya yalnızca bir savunma olmanın ötesinde Osmanlı Dönemi'nde savunma yapılarının değişimi noktasında önemli bir yapı olması farkındalığını artırmıştır.

Ottoman military architecture, since the classical period, has been based on the system of fortresses and walls. From the 18th century onwards, the development of firearms and advancements in artillery technology necessitated radical changes in defensive architecture. The advanced fortification structures developed in European states, adapted to the times, also influenced the Ottoman Empire, leading to the replacement of traditional defensive units with lower-level, topographically adapted, and almost anywhere feasible fortification systems. This study examines the distinguishing and unifying architectural features of the Aziziye Fortification compared to European and Ottoman defensive units. Our research employed both qualitative and quantitative methods, evaluating data obtained through literature review, fieldwork, and observations. The preservation problems of the structures were assessed in conjunction with their current state. The fact that this fortification was also preserved by the local population further enhances its historical significance. In the conclusion, the architectural structure of the Aziziye Fortification is analyzed in terms of its plan layout, material usage, defensive elements, and its relationship with topography. The function of this fortification within the Ottoman defense system is examined within the framework of modern fortification theories. Therefore, the fact that the fort was more than just a defensive structure has increased awareness of its importance in terms of the transformation of defensive structures during the Ottoman
