Özet
ÖZET İhvân-ı Safâ'ya göre, dil ve mantık birbiriyle yakından ilişkili iki kavramdır. Zira her ikisi de insandaki nutk gücünün bir yönünü oluşturur. İnsanların birbirleriyle iletişiminin bir aracı olarak görülen dil, Risalelerde genel hatları ile ele alınmış ve öncelikli olarak onun felekler âlemi ile olan bağlantısı üzerinde durulmuştur. Bunun yanı sıra İhvân-ı Safa Risalelerinde, ilk dil meselesi, dile ihtiyaç duyulmasının nedeni, lafız-mâna ilişkisi, dillerin farklılığı, üstün dil konusu ve dilin mantık ilmi ile olan münasebeti işlenmiştir. Düşüncenin konusunu teşkil eden ve ilimlerin âleti konumunda olan mantık ilmi, İhvân-ı Safa Risalelerinde Riyaziye kısmının son beş bölümünde incelenmiştir. Burada mantık konularından altı lafız, kategoriler, önermeler, kıyas, burhan ve mugalata özet bir şekilde ele alınmış, cedel, hitabet ve şiir konularına ise yer verilmemiştir.

ABSTRACT According to Brethren of Purity (İhvân-ı Safa), language and logic are two different concepts closely related to each other; since both of them constitute two aspects of human being's rational faculty (nutk). İn The Epistles language, regarded as a tool of communication, is considered in general outlines and it is discussed, first of all, in terms of its connection to the celestial sphere. The Epistles, however, treat of what the first language spoken is, the reasion of being in need of language, the relation between word and meaning, the diversity of languages, the superior language, and the relevance of language to Logic. İn The Epistles the logic that constitutes the subject matter of thinking and taken as the tool of sciences is analyzed in the last five parts of Mathematical Section. There, the six terms, categories, propositions, syllogism, demonstration and sophistics are briefly taken up, and yet not dealt with the topics, rhetorics and poetics.
