11 ABSTRACT THE OPINIONS AND ATTITUDES OF THE INSTRUCTORS AND STUDENTS CONCERNING THE USE OF INTERNET FOR EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ( THE SAMPLE OF THE FACULTY OF ARTS AND SCffiNCES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF GAZİANTEP ) By Servet DEMİR Master Thesis, Educational Sciences Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Necmiye KARATAŞ July, 2001,130 pages The aim of this research is to determine the opinions and attitudes of the instructors and students of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of the University of Gaziantep concerning the use of internet for educational purposes. A questionnaire consisting of three parts was used as the data collecting instrument for the research. In Part 1 of the questionnaire there are questions related with the demographic features of the subjects. The second part contains questions on the use and applications of internet in lessons, examinations, projects and homework. In Part 3 there is a Likert type attitude scale. The questionnaire for instructors was given to 40m instructors and 25 questionnaires were evaluated. On the other hand 347 students' questionnaires out of 356 were taken into evaluation. According to the findings of the research it was determined that the departments of the instructors affect their opinions on the preparations of their departments to conduct education via internet. The opinions of the students regarding the aims of internet usage, most frequently encountered problems, the applications of internet in lessons, examinations and homework varied according to the departments and classes of students. There are differences among the opinions of the instructors and students on the regularly visited sites and various applications of internet. The opinions of the instructors indicate variations depending on their departments. On the other hand opinions of the students change according to their departments and chance of accession to internet. As a whole there are not any statistically differences among the opinions of two groups of subjects.

Doç Dr. Necmiye KARAT AŞ Temmuz, 2001, 130 sayfa Bu araştırmanın amacı; Gaziantep Üniversitesi Fen Edebiyat Fakültesindeki öğretim elemanı ve öğrencilerin internetin öğretim amaçlı kullanılmasına ilişkin görüş ve tutumlarını belirlemektir. Araştırmada üç bölümden oluşan anket kullanılmıştır. Birinci bölümde öğretim elemanı ve öğrencilerin demografik özelliklerine ilişkin sorular bulunmaktadır. İkinci bölüm; üniversitede, derslerde, sınavlarda, ödevlerde internetin kullanılması ve internet uygulamalarının kullanıma ilişkin sorulan içermektedir. Üçüncü bölümde ise Likert tipi tutum ölçeği bulunmaktadır. Öğretim elemanı anketi 40 öğretim elemanına verilmiş, 25 tanesi toplanıp değerlendirilmiştir. Öğrenci anketinde ise 356 tanesi toplanmış bunlardan ise 347 tanesi değerlendirilmiştir.Araştırma sonuçlarına göre; öğretim elemanlarının görev yaptıkları bölümleri, kendi bölümlerinin internetle eğitim yapmaya hazırlığı konusundaki düşüncelerini etkilemektedir. Öğrencilerin interneti kullanım amaçlan, en sık karşılaşılan problemler, derslerde internet kullanımı, sınavların internet kullanımı gerektiren sorular içermesi, ödevlerin internet kullanımı gerektirmesi hakkındaki görüşleri devam ettikleri bölüm ve smıf düzeylerine göre değişmektedir. Düzenli takip edilen siteler, kullanılan internet uygulamaları, üniversitede etkin olarak kullanılması, derslerde internet kullanımı konusunda öğretim elemanı ve öğrencilerin görüşleri arasında fark bulunmaktadır. Öğretim elemanlarının tutumları görev yaptıkları bölümlere göre değişmektedir. Öğrencilerin tutumları devam ettikleri bölüm, internet ve web sayfasına sahip olma durumuna göre değişmektedir. Öğretim elemanı ve öğrencilerin tutumları arasında fark bulunmamaktadır.
