Özet

TEZ ÖZETİ Bu tez çalışması Osmanlı Devleti Tarihi araştırmalarının bir devamı olarak hazırlanmıştır. Şehir tarihi alanındaki araştırmalara katkı sağlamak temennisi ile Osmanlı Devleti döneminin güzide şehirlerinden biri olan Tokat bu çalışmada tetkik edilmiştir. Zengin Osmanlı arşivlerinin en önemli malzemelerinden olan“şer'iyye sicilleri”temel kaynak olarak alınmıştır. Tez, Tokat tarihinin M. 1878-1884 tarihleri arasındaki bölümüne ışık tutmaktadır. Bu dönemler Osmanlı Devleti'nin pek çok iç ve dış mesele ile karşı karşıya geldiği bir döneme tekabül etmektedir. Aynı zamanda 19.yy Osmanlı yenilik hareketleri açısından da oldukça aktif bir dönemdir. Anadolu dışından yapılan göçler, 1877-78 Osmanlı- Rus savaşının etkileri, Tanzimat'tan sonra Osmanlı adli teşkilatında yapılan yenilikler yeni mahkemelerin açılması, Mecelle'nin ( medeni kanun) yürürlüğe girmesi, yeni askeri birliklerin oluşturulması gibi bu çalışmaya yansıyan bazı bilgiler Osmanlı Devleti'nin bu dönemdeki genel durumu hakkında bize bilgi vermektedir. Ayrıca, şehrin etnik yapısı, ahalinin eğitim durumu, meslekler ve meslek kolları, gayri menkul fiyatları, evlenme-boşanmaya dair esaslar, şehirde görev yapan memurlar bazı idari uygulamalar da bize hem şehir olarak Tokat'ı tanıtmakta hem de Osmanlı Devleti'nin iç bünyesi hakkında bazı genel fikirlere ulaşmamızı sağlamaktadır.

THE SUMMARY OF THE THESİS This thesis study has been prepared as a contination of the researches on the Ottoman Empire history. Tokat, which is one of the most distinguished cities of the Ottoman Empire, has been examined with the aim of being filled of the atı emptiness about the city history researches in this study.“The court legal proceedings”which are of the most important materials of the Ottoman archives, are regarded as a main resource. The thesis shows the way to the period between ^ ' >78 and 1884 of the Tokat history. This period corresponds to a period which the Ottoman Empire came face to face a lot of interior and exterior problems. In the same time, the 19 th. Century is also an active pcriodwhen wc think of the Ottoman novelty movements. Some knowlodge, such as the migration out of Anatolia, the effects of the 1877-78 Ottoman -Russian war, the novelties done in the Ottoman law organization after the“Tanzimat”(the politicak reformsjopening of new courts, coming in to force of amecelle"(the civil lawjforming of new military forcesi which is reflected in this study.gives us information about the general situation of the Ottoman Empire. Becides, the ethnic structure of the city, people's education levels, the jobs and their branches, the prices of the poperties and real estates, the principles of the marriage and divorce, the officers working in the city, some administrative practies both introduce us Tokat as a city and enable us to reach some general ideas about the inner side of the Ottoman fe^«-e.
