Özet
II ÖZET Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, Birsen Gökçe'nin Türkiye'deki sosyolojiye katkılarım ortaya koymaktır. Sosyologların görevi, toplumsal sorunları tespit ederek bu sorunlara çözüm önerisi sunmak ve toplumsal gerçekleri açıklamaktır. Ancak her sosyolog toplumsal gerçekleri açıklarken farklı yaklaşımlar kullanmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, Gökçe'nin toplumsal gerçekleri ele alış biçimi, sosyolojik yaklaşımı, kullandığı yöntem ve teknikleri anlamak amacıyla üzerinde durduğu toplumsal kavramlar, yaptığı alan araştırmaları, ele aldığı toplumsal konular ve sosyolojiye katkıları incelenmektedir. Çalışma sonucunda, Gökçe'nin toplumsal kavramların anlaşılması açısından aydınlatıcı açıklamalar yaptığı, alan çalışmalarının konu, yöntem ve teknik bakımdan örnek olduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Sonuç olarak Gökçe'nin, ülkemizdeki sosyolojinin gelişimine katkıda bulunan önemli yapı taşlarından biri olduğu tartışılmaz bir gerçektir.

Ill SUMMARY The main aim of this study is to investigate the contribution of Birsen Gökçe, as a Sociologist to the Turkish Sociology.The mission of the sociologist is to uncover the society's problems and to present solution, suggestions and to reveal the social reality.However,in doing this each sociologist use different kinds of manners and techniques. In this study, we can see Gökçe's manner of forming social truths, social concepts in order to understand the techniques and methods, her investigations on her domain subject and her helpings to the sociology. From the results of this study it can be understood that Gökçe's investigations are very useful to reueal the social concepts and enlighten the society and it can be used as a model, as a domain subject techniques and methods. Finally, it can not be denied that Gökçe is a great character in developing the sociology in our in Turkey.
