Because of its geographic location,, Anatolia has been a place of settle- sent since Paleolithic age. Because Anatolia had all the conditions which we re necessary for mankind to live. The abundance of streams, festility of land, the. transportation facilities and plenty of preys have been the most impor tant factors which played a role in having been a settlement place. In the economic life of Anatolia, the development of agriculture. trade and cattle-breeding has been seen after man had begun to the setüled life. But these three factors haven't developed together in ail settlement places. The locations of the areas of the settlement places has shown the source of living of the people settled there. In Neolithic Age settlements in Anatolia Pconciaus agriculture has been done, besides it has been seen that hunting has continued as well. In that age. as the product of agriculture only Wheat and barley and as the animal only dog have been domesticated. And again in this age it has been seen that a trade with south which was based on the exchange of pottery and obsidien had begun. In Chalcolithic and Early Bronze Age, it has been seen that the numbers of the domesticated kinds of agriculture and aninals had increased. Sheep, go at, ox. donkey, pea. lentil and broad-bean have been the domesticated sorts of animals and agriculture. The discovery of ares which has begun since the Chalcolithic and Early Ages has caused the importance of Anatolia increase. The relation which was realized with south has been expandet to Balcans on. one hand and to the Caucasias on the other hand. At that tines, there were exchange of goods in Anatolia among the settled people. The ir.ost important development in cattle-breeding has been realised in that ages. In the early of 20C0.3.C. which is called the age Assyria Trading Colo ny, Anatolia has been a center of an important trading activity, Assyrian,. north-Syrian and Babylonian tradesmen who came from south, they had brought date and tin. In return for these, they had taken various products of mine especially cooper and animal to their countries.80 The Anatolian agriculture has shown its most isnportent deveioaient in Hittite Age, Agriculture had deterrained the can&geraent system of this stats. But agriculture of Hittite had been affected in a negative way by severe., droughts, by the lack of smooth lands. and by the invasion of animals.
