Danışman : Prof. Dr. Zafer ÖZDEN 2005 -Sayfa: 172 Jüri Prof. Dr. Abdulkuddûs BİNGÖL İlk tanımı“gerçekliğin yeniden yorumlanması”diye yapılan belgesel sinema, görselliği ve sesi aynı anda kullanabiliyor olması ve gerçek yaşamı konu ediniyor olması nedeniyle 20. yüzyılın etkili sanat türlerinden birisi olmuştur. Dünya sinema tarihi içerisinde ilk yıllardan itibaren gelişmeye başlayan belgesel sinema, bir çok gelişmiş ülkede sözünü ettiğimiz özellikleri nedeniyle önemli bir yaygın eğitim ve propaganda aracı olarak kullanılmış ve bu amaçla, devlet tarafından desteklenmiştir. Türkiye'deyse sinemanın bu türü hem uygulamada, hem de akademik çalışmalarda görmezden gelinmiştir. Devletin de yeterli desteği sağlamamış olması nedeniyle, belgesel sinema, 1970'lere kadar önemli bir varlık gösterememiştir. Bu tez çalışmasını, 1970'li yıllardan itibaren yaptığı belgesel filmlerle ve yetiştirdiği öğrencilerle bu film türünün Türkiye'de gelişmesine önemli katkılar sağlamış olan Süha Arın' ın belgesel film anlayışım ve belgesel film yapım yöntemini inceleyerek, Türk belgesel sinemasına olan katkılarım irdelemek amacıyla hazırladık. Bu amaçla tezin esas gövdesini oluşturan üçüncü bölümün daha iyi anlaşılabilmesi ve Süha Arın'ı bu alandaki konumunu daha iyi belirleyebilmek için, teze kısaca belgesel sinemayı ve Arın' ın hayatım ve yetiştiği çevreyi ve eserlerini konu alan bir giriş ve iki bölüm ilave edilmiş, üçüncü bölümde ise Süha Arın' ın belgeselciliği tartışılmıştır.

IV ABSTRACT MASTER THESIS DOCUMENTARY CINEMA IN TURKEY AND SÜHA ARIN (A Documentary Filmmaker At The Crossroads Of Arts And Science) Ahmet OKTAN First Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Abdulkuddûs BİNGÖL Second Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Zafer ÖZDEN 2005-Page: 172 Jury : Prof. Dr. Abdulkuddûs BİNGÖL The documentary cinema which is first definition is made as“”because it uses visuality and sound at the same time and also because it takes up the real life a subject matter, documentary cinema becomes one of the effectual art branch of the twentieth century. In the history of world cinema, the documentary cinema which starts to grow up from the first years, is supported by state and is used both as a means of common education and propaganda due to its mentioned features in the most developed countries. On the other hand, in Turkey, this kind of cinema is neglected both in practice and in academic studies. The documentary cinema didn't make its presence felt up to 1970s because of the lack of a sufficient support also by the state. We prepared this thesis to study Suha Arın's, who provided important contributions for documentary cinema to improve in Turkey by the students he brought up and by documentary film he made, concept of documentary cinema and his way of making documentary film, to emphasize Suha Arın's statute in this field. With this aim to understand easily the third chapter it is added and introduction to thesis consisting of documentary cinema and Ann's life and the environment he grew up and his works of art and also two parts are added and in the third part Suha Arın's documentary film is discussed.
