125 SUMMARY This thesis has been designed in three different and related sections. The first section is written on Postmodernism. The contradictions and some of the characteristics of Postmoder nism according to different thinkers and theoreticians have been written and examples from Literature, Theatre and Movies have been given in this section. Also some of the basic linguistic, philosophical and psychoanalitical conceptions of Poststructuralists have been explained. The second section is about a Postmodern Austrian Playwright Peter Handke and the characteristics of his writings and especially of his plays. All of his plays (k speak-ins and 5 plays) except Kaspar have been studied and the reasons why he had been accepted as a Postmodern writer have been explained in this section. The next and the last section of the thesis is about a Postmodern approach to Peter Handke's longest play Kaspar. This play has been stuided according to the Postmodernist characteristics those had been collected and explained in the first section of the thesis. The aim of this thesis is to try to make a contribution to Postmodern Drama and Literary Criticism by explaining how to form a Postmodern approach to a playwright and to one of his plays as an example.
