-68- ABSTARCT Privatization is a tool which can assist with new investment for established industries and infrastructure. The question is, however, why go to the trouble of transferring ownership from the public to the private sector. Why not simply tigthen up the controls and keep ownership in the state sector. The aim of this book is to answer all these questions by depending on a theory that a healthy economy is best served by :he free operation of the private sector. "his book consists of eight main chapters. The first chapter is :he introduction. From the second chapter to the fifth one, it lentions about the concept of privatization, performance of >ublic enterprises, objectives and methods of privatization vespectively. In the sixth chapter some examples both from the leveloped and developing countries are given. Seventh chapter :onsists of the detailed analysis of privatization in Turkey, rom the beginning of republic of Turkey up to now. And, last hapter is the conclusion.
