Özet (Çeviri)

Following the signature of the Mondros Armistice, Adana and its environs was occupied on December 21, 1918 with the consensus of the English and the French. This partnership ended with the Syria Agreement that was concluded between the two states (on September 15, 1919), and the French became the sole dominant power in the region. The French used the Armenians in the occupation of Adana and promised them In return to found an independent Armenian state in C;ukurova. During the occupation, Adana received an intense immigration from the Armenians. Taking full support from the French, the Armenians carried out many massacres in Adana for 3 years. The locals tried to resist these acts of torture and cruelty on their own, but they could not succeed. When the Armenian pressure and oppression became insufferable, the locals of Adana had to take shelter in the Taurus Mountains on July 10, 1920. These people joined the nationalist forces here. In order to unite this disorganized struggle, Mustafa Kemal ATATURK and his companions came to Pozantl on August 05, 1920 and held a congress here. At the end of this congress, Pozantl was declared as the provincial capital. The nationalist forces defeated the French in Adana and its environs many times until the early 1921. As a result of these victories, Kozan, Pozantl and Saimbeyli were released from the French and Armenian joint occupation.
