ABSTRACT Masters Thesis THE EFFECTS OF VARIOUS NITROGEN DOSES ON THE YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF SUMMER RAPE WESTAR VARIETY (Brassica napus ssp. oleifera L.) Rab i a ALAY Ankara University- Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Agronomy Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Özer KOLSARICI 1992, Page: 60 Jury: Prof. Dr. Özer KOLSARICI Prof. Dr. Orhan ARSLAN Prof. Dr. Neşet ARSLAN This research was conducted at the University of Ankara, Faculty of Agriculture. Department of Agronomy in 1991. The purposes in this research were 1) to determine the yield and yield components the amounts of oil and protein in Westar cv. of summer rape when the plants werevi fertilized with fixed fosfor doses (6kg/da P205) and different nitrogen doses (4,8 and 12kg/da) to research of proper nitrogen dose for these plants under Ankara conditions. According to the results, the maximum seed yield was obtained as 187. 20kg/da at the dose of 12kg N/da while the minimum seed yield was 150.69kg/da at the control. The tallest plant height was 119.92 cm at the dose of 12kg N/da while the shortest plant height wasl04.52cm at the control. The maximum number of lateral branch on the main stem was determined as 4.38 at the dose of 12kg N/da while the minimum number of lateral branch was 3.27 at the control. The highest pod number on the main stem was 43.78 at the dose of 12kg N/da while the lowest pod number on the main stem was 33.99 at the control. The highest value was found as 7.80cm at the dose of 12kg N/da regarding to the pod length mean while the lowest value was 7.10cm at the control. The maximum number of seed per pod was obtained as 30.62 at the dose of 12kg N/da while the minimum number of seeds per pod was 25.51 at the control. The highest thousand seed weight was found as 3.76g at the dose of 8kg N/da while the lowest thousand seed weight was 3.49g at the control. There was no significant difference statistically among the 4 doses in concern with oil ratio but the highest value was %42.02 at the dose of 4kg N/da. There was no significant difference statistically among the 4 doses in regard to protein ratio but the highest value was %26.65 at the dose of 12kg N/da and the lowest value was %24.11 at the control. The maximum oil yield was obtained as 78.88kg/da at the dose of 12kg N/da while the minimum oil yield was 64.22kg/da at the control. According to the results of this research the doses of 8 and 12kg N/da were increased the yield in Westar cv. of summer rape due to soil structure and these nitrogen doses can be recommended under Ankara conditions.
