The Nineteenth Century reflects a different concept, from the standpoint ofthe musical compositions written both in the chamber music area and in theclassical music as a whole, due to their characteristics and the great evolution theyhave undergone. During the course of the nineteenth century, a transition fromclassicism to Romanticism was realized, numerous events in the social, political andartistic life had their reflections on the music written during this period. Majorcomposers of this era were mostly affected by the great changes in the moral,political and social climate of the epoch, used the chamber music and especially inthe piano trio as a means of expressing their thoughts and feelings. For this reason,the piano trios of the major composers who took part in the evolution are analysedwith respect to the structures, textures, sonorities and balance of the parts. Theresearch has been made on the common and contrast characteristics by comparingthe major compositions. The interaction between the composers of the era as theevolution of the genre goes by and the role of the different schools and concepts inthe development process are thoroughly studied.
