SUMMARY In this study, the comparative experiments has been performed on the influence of operation forms on catching efficiency in catching cuttlefish (Sepia sp.) by trammelnets, on the influence of colour of the net, of the daylight, of the frightening devices, and of the phases of moon on catching efficiency in catching annular seabream (Diplodus annularis), on the influence of frightening devices and of the phases of moon on catching efficiency in catching mullet (Magil spp.) with the aim of developing set net fishery. Also, the construction and rigging properties of set net that using in Aegean Region has been explained by means of a schedule. The trammelnets, frightening devices like pulse stick, noise stick and firstly under water lamps has been used as material in the. studies. Experiments has been carried out in Izmir and Çandarlı Bay. Trammelnets has been used with noise for catching mullet, and used as anchored bottom net for catching cuttlefish. The conclusions obtained from the study has been summarized as following ; Trammelnets which using for catching cuttlefish has been set up paralelly and upright towards the shore, during the night. At the result, the amount of cuttlefish caught by the net set up paralelly is more than caught by the net set upright towards the shore, in 232 %. The factor influencing this situation is upright migrations of cuttlefish between the shore and deep sea, during the night. Two studies has been carried out concerning with daylight and colour of net. In the first study, darkred and lightred nets which has same properties has been tried in day time and night for catching annular sea bream in Izmir Bay. At the result, darkred nets has been found more succesfull about 31 % than lightred nets in daytime fishing. But in night fishing, catching efficiencies of darkred and lightred nets are similar. Another study concerning with this matter has been tried in Çandarlı Bay. In this study darkred and lightrednets has been experienced, for catching annular seabream in daytime. At the result, lightred net has been found more effective than darkred nets about 44 % in limpid and clear waters. Two studies has been performed connected with frightening devices. The effects of using noise stick and pulse stick on catching efficiency in mullet fishery has beeen examined in the first study. At the result, using of pulse stick has been found more succesfull in 43 % than using noise stick. Cause of this conclusion is, the mullets is being moved firstly to bottom and then forward. In the second study, the noise stick and the underwater lamp has been compared considering catching efficiencies. At the result, the frightening operation by using underwater lamps has been found more effective in 54 % than by using noise stick. In order to study, the effects of moon phases on catching efficiency, a research has been carried out in Izmir Bay for catching mullet and annular seabream. The best efficiency has been obtained in the newmoon phase but the worsth efficiency has been obtained in fullmoon phase of the moon. In the second part of the study, construction and rigging properties of the set net used in Aegean Region has been explained by means of a schedule. Considering the results of the study, operation form, colour of net, daylight, frightening devices and phases of moon effect the catching efficiency in set net fishery.
