ABSTRACT Our study, entitled“Mehmet Rauf s Fiction”, has three parts, first of which is about the writer's personal life, his family, his character and his writing experience. The second part,“Mehmet Rauf as a Novelist”, is the most comprehensive one. Sixteen novels were studied chronologically and then the technical development from the first to the very last was shown with examples in this part. It has six subjections:“Conflicts”, which deals with conflicts between the themes and caharacters,“plot”, where each novel is discussed in terms of developing events and others are“theme”,“place”,“time”and“characters”. In the“theme”section, thems were first divided into two groups:Individual such as love, hatret, complaint about the society, fear of aging and social such as feminism, the falsity of prospective marriage the problems of prostitution. The“place”section is divided into two:natural and social environment. In the“characters”section, first, common features and cultural levels of the characters were decided and then they were classified according to their socia-psychological characteristics.“Mehmet Rauf s short story writing”was studied in the third part of the thesis. In this part, the writer's short stories were evaluated under the same titles and the same approach with the novels, yet the characters were classified in terms of their moral values. A comprehensive bibliography of Mehmet Raufs works and secondary materials were added to the main body of this thesis. «At"WK£W^* '&ff&
